More than 100 athletes descended on the sunny Central Kansas town of McPherson on May 24 for a skills and drills combine.

The McPherson College Coaching Staff hosted the camp, which Revive Performance facilitated.

The combine was divided into four testing stations, two competitive speed drills, and then wrapped up with specific positional-oriented drills.

I camped out at the Pro Agility station to see how quickly some guys could move laterally from out of a football stance. It's my favorite testing drill at combines.

This report will focus on five athletes from Kansas high schools who impressed me with their quickness.

Stay tuned for more reports this week after I receive more of the official results from Revive Performance.

I would like to thank the personnel at McPherson College, Revive Performance, and Market Athletes for allowing me to attend.

My next football combine this season will be a Baker University on June 3.

[player_tooltip player_id='1651893' first='Kingsley' last='Smith'], DL/OL, 6'4”, 250, Wakefield, ‘26

The first athlete who stood out at the combine was Wakefield's Smith, and he stood out before the event started. He was just stretching when the big man caught my eye. He stood out like a man among boys. He is a huge athlete who looks like the young professional wrestler Jasper Troy! His first attempt at the Pro Agility, he was clocked at 5.16 seconds. He had the confidence and assertiveness to come up to me to ask what time I would like to see him run. I responded that for a guy his size, I would like to see closer to 4.8 to 4.9 seconds. Damn if he didn't run a 4.86 second clip on his second attempt. I wish I had seen him in pads, but I will take what I can get. Every DII and JUCO coach who follows me should give this young man a call.

[player_tooltip player_id='1515812' first='Dalton' last='Wulf'], LB/TE, 6'0”, 188, Clearwater, '26

Wulf was a name I was familiar with heading into the combine, but this was the first time I had seen him work out in person. The Clearwater linebacker is ranked No. 87 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026 rankings. He was clocked at 4.97 seconds on his first attempt and at 4.75 seconds on his next attempt. He appeared confident and ran the drill with poise. He recorded 128 tackles for the Indians last season. His speed translates on the field as he recorded four quarterback sacks and five tackles-for-loss as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='1403316' first='Daxton' last='Weakley'], RB, 5'11”, 188, Arkansas City, '26

Weakley is currently ranked No. 365 overall by Prep Redzone. He could be the “poster boy” for why athletes should claim their Prep Network profiles. I was impressed with his times of 4.41 and 4.38 seconds in his two attempts at the Pro Agility drill. He played a significant role in the Bulldogs' offense last season, rushing for 284 yards and catching 60 passes for 499 yards and six touchdowns. It was good to get a chance to see him in action, and a claimed profile will help him get noticed by college coaches subscribing to Prep Redzone Kansas. A busy and successful combine season should lead to him starting to collect college offers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1115507' first='Jack' last='Herd'], DB, 6'1”, 180, South Central, ‘26

Another name that was good to put a face to was South Central's Herd. I have followed the stats of the eight-man prospect for a couple of seasons now, but this was the first time I met him. He was clocked at 4.84 seconds in his first attempt and then dropped off running a 5.3 seconds his second time around. He was the Timberwolves' leading tackler as a junior, and by a wide margin. He racked up 121 total tackles in 12 games for the South Central.

[player_tooltip player_id='1604524' first='Benjamin' last='Bell'], WR/DB, 6'1”, 190, Lincoln, ‘27

A second small school prospect who showed up and showed out was Lincoln's Bell. He was clocked at 4.8 and 4.44 seconds in his two runs in the Pro Agility. Bell is a guy who has benefited from the blocking of a top-ranked lineman in the Prep Redzone Rankings in his teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='1566706' first='Brody' last='Shearer']. Bell made 20 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns as a junior. Seeing him in person, I was impressed with his physical frame and quickness. He is currently ranked No. 125 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027.
