Uncovered Gems: OAA White #7

The OAA White is a super underrated league. All the love seems to go to the Red, but the White has some consistent championship contenders. In this article, we have five players who could have big breakout seasons this coming fall. No lie, no joke, no fib- all of these players have massive potential, and all but one have at least two seasons remaining.    Am I reading this right? Matt is a Class of 2028 prospect?   Matt is an emerging star in the OAA White. Check out the highlights- he's way ahead of the curve when it comes to throw power, accuracy, and all-around QB play. His first highlight showcases a great off-platform throw across the field to an improvised short crosser. This throw is super high-level, especially for a freshman. Second, another off-platform throw, this time to a 10-yard curl. Matt only has two more highlights, but they both show similar throw power and accuracy.   Great highlights, even if the tape is very short. If Matt keeps growing, he'll be a phenomenal Quarterback for Rochester.      Lonell only played six games during his Junior campaign, but his highlights show some great productivity.   The biggest strength here is tackling. Londell is not afraid to tackle, and he doesn't half-effort his tackles either. 1:10 shows a great goalline tackle, while 1:30 is a great kickoff tackle (good speed shown there, too). Lonell also has a few pass-defense highlights (1:57).   Lonell could earn some recruiting attention in the coming months. In order to do so, he'll need to perform well at camps. I hope to get an in-person eval on Lonell soon!      So many Harper Woods receivers, and James has a highlight tape that makes me extremely optimistic about his 2025 campaign.   James stands out in a way that few receivers stand out: blocking. 1:07 shows a physical block against a very good Groves DB, allowing his QB to earn the edge and score a TD. That's only one highlight, but few receivers have a single blocking highlight, let alone a blocking highlight as good as 1:07.   Plus, James has a handful of good receiving highlights. His first highlight shows a good seam route and high-point catch in double coverage. Next, 0:19 shows good vision on the screen. Plus, good job of tucking that ball after initially holding it way too loose. I see James as a potential breakout player next season. It's tough at Harper Woods, considering their endless skill position talent, but I think James can do it.      Ryan may be small, but that doesn't mean he can't be a great two-way weapon. The highlights kick off with a great TD on the reverse. I especially like Ryan's fake to the outside, then cut to the inside- good move. Next, another TD, this time on a jet sweep. Both highlights show solid speed and solid open-field elusiveness. Those two plays sum up Ryan's offensive ability well. Give Ryan the ball in open space, and he's fast and slippery enough to consistently make plays. Finally, Ryan has a couple of good defensive highlights. 2:01 shows a great TD-saving tackle.      Vencent has all of the tools to be a great Varsity football player. It seems he had an especially great game against Stoney Creek, as that's where about half of his highlights are from. Vencent's first highlight is a very accurate 35-yard fade to a closely-covered receiver. At 0:43, he completes a quick pass to the slot receiver running a hitch. Overall, not too many highlighted throws, but I can tell that he has a great foundation.   He's also a solid runner. Several times on tape, Vencent is able to escape the pocket and rush for a solid gain. I like the display of athleticism, but I would like to see him keep his eyes downfield and be open to the pass while on the run.   Very interested in seeing Vencent's growth this coming season!
