PRZ PAClassic: Jersey Tough 18u

Jersey Tough made their presence known this past weekend at the PRZ PA Classic 7v7, showcasing a gritty mix of talent from both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. While the team finished with a 1-4 record, they remained competitive and consistently put points on the board in every matchup. With a handful of standout performers emerging from the tournament, there are definitely some names to watch as we head into the summer circuit.    Ryan stood out at quarterback with his quick decision-making and ability to read coverages effectively. He consistently got the ball out fast, keeping the offense in rhythm and ahead of the chains. On Saturday afternoon, he showcased impressive ball placement, dropping a perfectly placed throw into the corner of the end zone just over the outstretched hands of an underneath defender. His accuracy on short and intermediate routes kept drives alive and showed his command of the offense.     Quadir was the prime target at wide receiver, using his height and physicality to his advantage. He consistently boxed out defenders to make tough catches and was a reliable option in contested situations. On the defensive side, Quadir impressed as a cornerback, closing on the ball with speed and anticipation. His ability to read routes and make plays on both sides of the ball made him a standout throughout the weekend.     Toren Schonyers II showed real promise at linebacker, bringing speed and awareness to the heart of the defense. With his head constantly on a swivel, he read plays quickly and covered a lot of ground from sideline to sideline. His ability to close on the receiver and stay involved in the action made him a constant presence on the field. Toren is definitely a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.     Mekhi Davis made his mark on the offensive side of the ball, showing quickness and reliability as a running back. He got to the flat in a hurry, making himself a solid check-down option for his quarterback and adding versatility to the offense. While he also saw time at linebacker, I didn't get the chance to catch enough of his defensive reps to evaluate his impact on that side of the ball.     Michael made a big impact with a perfectly executed out route to the sticks for a crucial conversion, showcasing his football IQ and precision at the 7v7. Despite his smaller frame, he's a nimble, fluid mover who's tough to track in coverage. He does an excellent job disguising his routes, keeping defenders guessing and creating separation when it matters most.
