Nate’s Film Room: Five Manitoba WRs to Know

The film rooms have been opening up all over the country at Prep Redzone and as we peaked at the film of some of the best wide receivers I could find in Manitoba this afternoon.

Parker Mantie, Steinbach Regional 2027

Parker certainly plays outside the typical measurables as a slot receiver at 6'4 190 pounds, but there is no way you can miss as a college coach on this kid's big play athleticism. He shows off a sound catch radius which makes me want to know where this young man's wingspan would be if we measured him at a college camp this summer. Parker also is a hooper, which it doesn't take long to see that "box out" mentality he has to win position battles against smaller defensive backs. Surely one that wins plenty of reps with positioning and great seperation early from behind the line of scrimmage. One to know out of this 2027 class out of southern Manitoba.

Alex Bangura, Oak Park 2028 Twitter

Alex is a recent top performer at our Prep Redzone 7v7 tournament in Omaha and one that flashed on tape early with his durability for his size. His elusiveness he possesses with the ball in his hands is very intriguing as he has excellent vision in the open field getting north-south with ease and somehow barely gets touched once he gets out of intial contact. The 7v7 tape I got to watch from a week ago on Alex shows off quick recogition of throwing angles as Alex is proactive getting under the ball flight at the best angle he can find. He surely is a special athlete out the 2028 class coming out Oak Park and Recruit Ready for 7v7.

Tavin Parani, Oak Park 2027 Twitter

Two quick skillsets I can tell you off the bat about Tavin from covering him during multiple 7v7 tournaments, is this young man plays with a certified chip on his shoulder and plays way bigger than his measurables will tell you. Since the last time I evaluated him, I can tell Tavin has developed a smoother twitch with his agility when making his cut on his route and my goodness, doesn't it give him the seperation he needs easily. Another slot receiver out of Oak Park that lets his play in the open field do the talking as Tavin has gotten extremely slippery to bring down since I first evaluated him a little over a year ago. Tavin is an example of why 7v7 reps are crucial for kids up north as it doesn't take long to gauge that Tavin is a wide receiver in the 2027 class if I was a college recruiter, I would go outside the measurables for if I needed a slot receiver.

Brady Templeton, Dakota Collegiate 2026 Twitter

It does not take look to see that from the first look on tape, Brady comes off as a wrecking ball on tape by taking first contact like there is nothing there. Brady shows off a great mix of twitch and well-verse route running that shows off some smooth traits and upside to develop even greater at the next-level. I also can gauge how sound Brady's hands are for his size, as another prospect out of Manitoba that should surely be on U-Sports football radars that is another wide receiver out of powerhouse Canadian 7v7 program Recruit Ready.

Ben LaRose-Short, Grant Park 2026 Twitter

Ben appears in my eyes as one of the best receivers there is in Manitoba at the moment in the 2026 class, as it doesn't take long to see on tape how sound this young man hands are in high traffic areas as he almost makes it look too easy. Another wide receiver that you can gauge has a well-built football IQ in the open field as Ben just shows off a poise with the ball in his hands and brings a man amongst boys mentality with his tape in open areas. Ben shows off great pure athleticism and in my eyes is a must offer wide receiver in this 2026 class across Canada.
