Going into the fifth week of the 2024 season, [highschool_tooltip highschool_id='1493141' name='Largo']'s [highschool_tooltip highschool_id='1494617' name='Pinellas Park'] High School's football team sat at 4-1 and looked promising.

One of the more successful programs in the region, the Patriots and head coach Max Smith knew that if they were going to win the District 9-5A race, they would have to beat Bradenton [highschool_tooltip highschool_id='1480193' name='Manatee'].

In the first meeting of the season, they fell behind and never recovered, losing, 34-10.

They realized that if they were going to do anything in the playoffs, that Manatee team they lost to for the district title would certainly pop up again in the state playoffs.
