Hoosier State Hustle: Skill Guys Who Made Some Noise

We're taking a look at a handful of skilled players who had a good weekend down in Noblesville and should be on radars moving forward.

Taylor is an explosive and raw athlete who has all the traits to be incredibly successful on the field. He has a good feel for the game on both sides of the ball and has the confidence you need. He started a bit hesitant but as the games got going, he got into his groove. He's one of the quiet guys who helps make the team "Go" yet has no issue being the one to say something when they are in a lull. I liked that he was always right there, paying attention, and ready to roll.

Hughes is an impressive athlete who plays on both sides of the ball and has the explosion you're looking for. As young as he is as well, he's got a fantastic frame that he's building up. You can see the potential with him as he just roams around. If you need him to find a way to create separation and make a catch, he can do that. If you need him to turn around and line up as a DB, he can do that as well. I thought he not only looked good, but that he should be ready for a Varsity role much sooner than later.

Whitlock consistently put himself in a position to make plays out of the backfield. Sistrunk trusted him and let it rip. The ball would get on Whitlock in a hurry and he'd make the catch. He's got soft hands and a good feel for finding the soft spot in the zone. He made a few hard-earned TD grabs as well that stood out. There weren't a ton of backs making plays, but Whitlock was and certainly deserves the recognition.

Felton is a very smooth athlete who does a lot of things well on the football field. He immediately strikes me as someone who has been well-coached for as long as he's been playing ball. He's smart, doesn't make many mistakes, and takes calculated chances. He's got soft hands and a good vertical which allows him to make contested grabs. He had a few sideline grabs where he got both feet in so it would have been good on Sundays. He's young and fits the mold for an inside receiver who can tear it up down the road.

Of the pass catchers who had a good weekend, I'd argue Sonnenfeld is somewhere near the top. He's currently listed at 6', but he plays bigger. He went up time and time again, used his frame to his advantage, and brought down highpoint catch after catch. He was bringing it all the way down to the ground and taking the hit as if it was a real game, which I like to see because I don't want to see that hesitation. He gave his QB a big target and made the most of it when the ball came his way.
