Film Room Fridays- Top Defensive Submissions of the Week

He can cover a lot of ground and consistently makes impressive sideline-to-sideline plays against the run and pass, coming up with huge stops all over the field. Sims is great in coverage- he isn't easily baited, doesn't get beat deep, and can get his hands on the ball to break up and haul in passes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While Sims is great in coverage, he impressed me just as much with his run defense. I'm really impressed with how he stops the run- he's quick off the snap, plays with great leverage, and has impressive strength and power he uses to put OL on their heels and make tackles for loss. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On top of that, Barginere can create problems on passing downs as well. He frequently locates the ball carrier, flies downhill, and hustles to make impressive stops down near the line of scrimmage for little to no gain. Nance is an impressive tackler- he's quick, gets low, and wraps up really well, preventing any extra yardage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nance is just as impressive out in coverage. Carver is a hard man to move in the trenches- he's explosive off the snap, plays with good leverage, and has active hands and power to put OL on their heels every down. Carver is especially good at stopping the run- he quickly closes up rushing lanes at the line of scrimmage and fights off multiple blockers to get to the ball and create stops. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I'm really impressed with some of the moves Carver uses down in the trenches, specifically his spin. Clifton is dominant against the run- he's great at tracking the ball, can work around offensive linemen, and has the tackling and pursuit skills to quickly catch and wrap up the ballcarrier for stops. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Clifton is really talented at stopping the run, but can also produce out in coverage as well. Hampton is strong, quick on his feet, and has the instincts and IQ to come up with stops nearly every down.
