That lighter group wasn't wasting a lot of movement.

Four players topped 22 miles per hour in the Catapult Cat 1 GPS vests, with a total of 18 players besting 21 miles per hour. Here's a rundown of that data, as well as some other players who found their own ways of standing out at York.

2028 TOP MPH

[player_tooltip player_id='1672904' first='Logan' last='Thames'] DB, Nation Ford - 21.23 mph

Ty'shawn Johnson WR, Blythewood - 20.24 mph

Trevor Kinard QB, Blackville-Hilda - 19.48 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1112754' first='Kameron' last='Howell'] RB, Woodland - 19.23 mph

AROUND THE YORK COMBINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1603727' first='Alex' last='Johnson'] DL, Catawba Ridge

Johnson (2027) wasn't among those counted above even though he 21.12 miles per hour. He had a commitment that forced him into the morning session alongside the rising seniors. He looked every bit as dominant as we've started to see he could be. He chimed in at just shy of 6-foot-3 and 209 pounds, and he really cut his teeth in the one-on-ones. Johnson is a high-level edge rusher in the making.

[player_tooltip player_id='1422608' first='Hunter' last='O'Neal'] RB, Keenan

O'Neal (5-foot-7, 170 pounds) reached a peak of 21.53 miles per hour, which is strong for a tailback with two years of eligibility remaining. What stood out most in his data pack from the Cat 1, however, was how quickly he was accelerating from a stopped position. His acceleration rate of 8.33 (scale of 1-10) was the fourth fastest at York, regardless of grade.

[player_tooltip player_id='232624' first='Xavier' last='Means'] QB, Northwestern

Along those lines, we felt a little extra reason to point out that Means (pressured) was one of the few players with a quicker acceleration rate. His 8.57 was the high point for all underclassmen. It allowed him to hit 22.33 miles per hour and a super respectable 4.6 40-yard dash time. He was invited to the combine as a quarterback, but we wouldn't be surprised to see him playing some receiver or returning kicks with that type of speed should plan No. 1 not work out immediately.

[player_tooltip player_id='1811040' first='Leonard' last='Pressley'] WR, American Leadership

Pressley was super active throughout the afternoon session, routinely jumping in for extra reps during the competition and one-on-one portions. And he wasn't constantly bumping himself into the rotation to slack off, either. Pressley's sprint distance (634.18 yards) tracked out to a 11.9 percent of his overall workload. For perspective, a player who reached 9 percent is already pretty good.
