The morning session at the Spartanburg site of the Carolinas Coaches Combine was all about the locals.

Seniors from across the area showed their skills at Spartanburg High School's Viking Stadium, and at the end of the day eight of the 14 individual awards who play within about 20 miles of where they were standing.

Boiling Springs' [player_tooltip player_id='473009' first='Jeremiah' last='Favorite'] won MVP honors for the senior session, and showed why he's one of the top defensive backs in the state. Favorite looked great in coverage in individual drills and competition, and his measurables were good, particularly a 4.7 40-yard dash. Favorite is a cover guy who's capable of taking away his side of the field, and his showing on Sunday reinforced that.

Three players took their awards back to their home locker room. Spartanburg's [player_tooltip player_id='1639726' first='Lamont' last='Brewton'] won the award as the top senior OL, [player_tooltip player_id='1734457' first='Brendon' last='Carson'] was selected as the top senior DL, and K [player_tooltip player_id='816752' first='Will' last='Love'] was the top specialist at the combine.

Brewton is an enormous individual, at a shade over 6-foot-3 and nearly 338 pounds. He did 22 reps at 185 pounds on the bench press, but one-on-one drills is where Brewton shined. Playing in multiple spots, he used his 79-inch wingspan to effectively neutralize most of the DL who lined up against him, showing no trouble with forcing guys wide and keeping them out until the whistle.

Carson, too, did well on one-on-ones, with a quick first step and the ability to use multiple moves to beat OL. He's over 300 pounds and showed some strength and explosiveness, with a 91-inch broad jump and 20 reps on the bench.

Love, meanwhile, just continued to show why he's so highly-regarded as a kicker. Leg strength and accuracy are no problem, and he's a weapon that can completely change the Vikings' offensive outlook at times.

Broome had a pair of award winners as well, taking top marks in both jumps. Tre'Sean Suber turned in a vertical jump of 38.5 inches, while Asher Littlejohn broad jumped 10 feet, 8 inches.

Woodruff's [player_tooltip player_id='1395078' first='Kam' last='Taylor'] was the other Spartanburg County award winner, taking Offensive Combo honors. At 6-foot-5 and 238 pounds, Taylor is a specimen who stood out in a good field of TEs and H-backs. His combination of size and speed presents a ton of matchup problems.

Gaffney QB [player_tooltip player_id='284134' first='Jayvon' last='Gilmore'] won the Offensive Skill award for the 2026 session. Gilmore looked good in competition drills, showcasing both arm strength and touch.

There were plenty of winners from outside Spartanburg and the surrounding areas as well. Greenwood had a pair of winners in QB [player_tooltip player_id='1639712' first='Triston' last='Lewis'], who won the coaches-voted Leadership award, and in LB [player_tooltip player_id='1732593' first='Dyson' last='Davis'], who took the Defensive Combo award. Strom Thurmond's Jaylin Collins was the Defensive Skill award winner.

Mauldin's [player_tooltip player_id='1592598' first='Cade' last='Spencer'] put up an impressive 32 reps in the bench press, Crescent's [player_tooltip player_id='1395080' first='Amiri' last='Acker'] ran a 4.47 for the fastest 40 time in the morning session, while Wren's [player_tooltip player_id='1208787' first='Jacob' last='Lewis'] put up a blistering time of 4.03 seconds in the Pro Shuttle.
