If you're looking for some explosive playmakers on the perimeter, you came to the right place! Today, I'm looking at an unheralded group of 2027 wideouts who I think are destined for a big fall season. These guys showed plenty of ability as sophomores at the varsity level; however, I think their production will skyrocket in 2025. They have plenty of upside and should make their way onto college's radars very soon.

Brayden Combs, 6'2" 180, Azle

Combs has excellent contact balance after the catch, he can make defenders miss in space and can turn a quick game reception into an explosive play. He's sure-handed, slippery after the catch and can easily track deep shot throws over the shoulder. He's confident going over the middle, he has the upper-body strength to muscle defenders off of him and is a reliable check-down for his quarterback.

AJ Birdow, 5'8" 155, Bowie

A homerun threat who does his best work out of the slot and can adjust his frame midflight to make acrobatic catches. What he lacks in size he makes up for in burst and twitch. He does a good job of leaning on a defender then exploding out of his cuts at the top of routes, he has the quickness to defeat press coverage and does a good getting north & south immediately following a reception.

Elisha Johnson, 5'9" N/A, Clark

Johnson can work all three parts of the field, he's a sticky blocker on the outside and is quite physical after the catch. He can hold the line on the nine route, he knows how to use angles to better execute blocks, and does a good job accelerating out of his cuts. He knows how to navigate his way through traffic on called screens and has the speed to outrun cornerbacks.

James Pierce, 6'1" 170, Troup

This kid catches just about everything within the framework of his body, even if he's getting mauled by an opposing defender. He's got elite concentration, he accelerates through contact and has the versatility to line up in the backfield & generate chunk plays. He has the body control to stay on his feet against multiple tackle attempts, he's durable, consistent and shows the speed to run by nosey defensive backs. He is one fun watch on film.
