Uncovered Gems: OAA White Pt.5

My first article covering the OAA while living in OAA territory! It's been a pleasure covering the OAA White for five articles, and now that I'm mere minuites away from many of these schools, I should soon have excellent scouting reports for each team. For now, here are my first impressions for five more players in the OAA White. This article includes players from Southfield, Rochester, Stoney Creek, and Groves.    Kenneth could be on his way to a standout Senior Season. His Junior season highlights indicate a great foundation, including a couple of great traits that I look for when scouting LBs.   A few things to improve upon first. For one, Kenneth needs to play faster. He hesitates far too much. This led to opposing ball carriers earning way more yards than necessary. I want to see Kenneth become more aggressive, taking the game to the ballcarrier, not the other way around.   On the flip side, Kenneth has a few very high IQ plays. At 0:15, he strips the ball from a runner. At 0:23, he goes all-out in the blitz and secures a perfect sack. There are other moments where Kenneth is very physical and plays fast- he just needs to be more consistent.      All signs point toward Chene being a college prospect by this time next year.   First off, I like Chene's size. He's a little light for the position, but 6'3" is ideal for a defensive lineman. Second, his tape is solid. I especially like Chene's getoff and speed around the edge. It also seems that he has a decent tackle radius and decent anchor.   His potential college recruitment will come down to the work he puts in this offseason. Bulk up and polish pass rush? Chene could be a D2 prospect. Remain the same with marginal improvements? I could see D3 or below, as long as he still has the grades.      Extremely intriguing class of 2028 QB here.   Ayrton is still a little undersized and lacks the arm strength of most upper-classman QBs (which of course is normal for Freshmen). Though, Ayrton's still was able to make up for many of his physical deficiencies. For one, Ayrton is able to throw a good, accurate deep ball. The tape below shows Ayrton hit #8 on several occasions on deep passes- this could be a connection that is equally strong on the Varstiy level. I also like that he's able to make plays with his legs. Not the most athletic QB, but makes it work. Lastly, the mechanics are solid. As a young, undersized QB, your mechanics are oftentimes what push you over that hump.      Several very bright moments for Devin on his Junior Season Highlight Tape. He's an elusive RB who earns his stripes by outrunning most defenders, with the occasional perfectly-timed juke. The highlight at 0:31 showcases this perfectly- Devin follows his blocks into open space, then jukes a linebacker, jukes a DB that over-pursued, then outruns the rest for the 70-yard TD. Most RBs, especially slower ones, would have carried that 7-10 yards becuase of the great blocking, but Devin took it to the house. The very next highlight (0:53), Devin showcases great balance, absorbing a hit and walking into the endzone.   Devin could earn offers in the coming months. I could see GLIAC teams express interest if his testing numbers are phenomenal. Right now, I'd lean D3, but would not be shocked if some lower-tier D2s send out offers.      It's too early to tell how good [player_tooltip player_id='1631123' first='Freddy' last='Sorensen'] could be. For one, I love his height. 6'3" as an off-ball outside linebacker is absolutely ideal. This indicates a high ceiling.   On the flip side, Freddy still has a lot of room to grow, both literally and figuratively. On the field, Freddy does a good job defending plays when they come to him, but he overall needs to play faster and more physically. Plus, Freddy is a little light for the position. If Freddy is able to spend a lot of time watching film and bulking this offseason, plus practicing super hard over the summer, he could be a good varsity contributor this Fall.
