The first couple plays in his tape are good sideline tackles against Ferndale. The first highlight, in particular, is a great example of good instincts and quick reaction. Then, he has a couple of pass-defense highlights. It looks like Mark knows the basics of coverage but generally needs to react far quicker. As for run defense, I'd love to see faster reaction here, too. He tends to wait for the ball carrier then tackle flat-footed. For one, he's giving it his all out there. For instance, his first highlight shows an extremely high-effort sack. He doesn't succeed in getting around the tackle, but the QB rolls left, and Ian is able to chase him down and convert the sack. Then, 0:21 is a great inside stunt and TFL. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Great stuff from Ian! Against a bigger man, he was able to consistently defend the fade, swatting away multiple passes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The rest of his tape is more good man-to-man coverage. He knows how to sink his hips, backpetal, and look at his man's lower body to indicate where he's going. The only two big questions I have are 1. How is his change of direction? and 2. He's still a tad undersized for the position, but he has a few standout traits that could push him to become a great college prospect. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For one, I love his getoff. The majority of his highlights show an extremely quick getoff, oftentimes getting off the line of scrimmage quicker than the opposing offensive lineman. Second, he's physical.
