The Virginia Longhorns came into Maryland with a chip on their shoulder and were ready to play from the get go. A number of players on their roster will play for the Osbourn Eagles this fall and if their performance this past weekend was any indication, look out to the rest of the Cedar Run District. The Longhorns were making plays and have a number of stars returning to the football field in 2025, here are their top performers below:

One of the best players through all of 18U was [player_tooltip player_id='1639052' first='Caleb' last='Smoot'], the sophomore to be was a star all weekend. Smoot was making eye popping plays left and right including a couple below. You will be hearing more from him come this fall, he played a ton as a freshman. Smoot has a long stride and good size, he was a matchup nightmare on both sides of the ball. Already close to 6'0 and 160 lbs. [player_tooltip player_id='1639052' first='Caleb' last='Smoot'] will be heard upon the next couple of seasons.

One of the top performing quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id='1422269' first='Anthony' last='Jackson'] made his presence known early as I thought he would. For those not aware Jackson was an all conference selection as a freshman quarterback for the Eagles in 2024 and he has chance to be one of our top ranked prospects for the 2028 class. Donut Jackson came in on a mission and was incredibly accurate all weekend. With an offer from Howard University already and they way he is progressing, expect him to dominate next fall.

My guy [player_tooltip player_id='853819' first='Keon' last='Maestas'] did not disappoint upon arrival at Liberty Sports Park for the tournament. Earning a Top Performer spot, Maestas was nearly unstoppable. all weekend long. It really seemed like every time the Longhorns needed to get a first down there you saw Maestas breaking free for big receptions. I hope the Eagles use him in their offense similarly this fall, between him, Smoot, Thornton and a few more, they are going to be a nightmare to game plan against.

[player_tooltip player_id='1641175' first='Zion' last='Rice'] is another member of Osbourn's 2028 class that you are going to be hearing a lot from going forward. While his social media presence is lacking, his big league talent is not, Rice was another future sophomore with a standout performance. He is 6'0 and 190 lbs. and he is not done growing, I expect a bigger role for him offensively in 2025. Rice will be sure a go to target for Jackson as he was most of the weekend.

Another guy I told you in my preview article I thought would have a good day was [player_tooltip player_id='1343472' first='Caden' last='Thornton']. There is a reason he was one of the most feared defensive backs this past season, Thornton made plays all weekend. I love the way this dude competes on every snap, he was fired up from the moment he arrived to the Liberty Sports Park facilities. Look below to see how he can run stride for stride with anyone, cannot wait to see him come this fall.

I think Bethany College is going to be really happy to see [player_tooltip player_id='1232998' first='Julian' last='Burrell'] walking their hallways very soon. He had a great showing in Maryland including getting open against other committed prospects. Below you'll see him create separation against a 4th Quarter squad that had multiple next level athletes.
