New Hits on Our Radar: Class of 2028

Since our release of the inaugural Class of 2028 Rankings we have had several members of the freshmen class hit our radar here at Prep Redzone Wisconsin. Athletes that have the talent and building blocks of traits to work themselves into a next level prospect. They are also athletes who will certainly shake up the rankings when we update them prior to the kickoff of the 2025 season. However, I'm not interested in waiting that long to talk about these kids so today that is what we are going to do. Shine the spotlight on the new hits on our freshman radar!    Andrew is a very intriguing prospect. The 5'11" 170 lbs athlete has a strong athletic skill set that allows him to dominate in space vs his peers. Athleticism that helps him make plays as a WR and returner on top of his play at LB. As an LB, Andrew has excellent range that allows him to drop into coverage and be a major asset against the passing game. He isn't afraid to show off his quickness through traffic while closing for a tackle either. As a receiver Andrew impresses with his concentration grabs and ability to high point the ball. Plus his speed allows him to get behind his DB quickly and stretch the field. This is going to be a name to know out of West Bend West. A program that has quite a few talented athletes coming through the ranks.      Another very impressive member of the West Bend West freshman class is [player_tooltip player_id='1709713' first='Logan' last='Spaeth']. The 6'2" 210 lbs freshman has built up a strong frame that is going to continue to get more explosive and stronger over the coming years. His quick development and growth allowed him to earn varsity action as a FB for WBW in 2024. Logan did well in his role as a lead blocker, quickly getting to level two and walling off LBs or driving them into the secondary. Logan has a solid burst of speed to get to his target quickly and also does well with his body positioning to open up the hole for his RB to cut through. The freshman also played guard for the JV team, so he is getting a lot of work as a blocker. Get an eye on him early.      A QB to keep an eye on over the coming years is Kimberly's [player_tooltip player_id='1709782' first='Rylan' last='Welch']. The 5'11" 175 lbs athlete brings a dual threat ability to the field for the Papermakers. When he decides to keep it himself he has a quick burst of acceleration and a speed that stands out on the field compared to his peers. As a passer Welch is developing well too. He has a strong command over his ball placement. Whether on the move or in the pocket, Rylan is able to drop it into spots and hit his target in stride. As he continues to grow, mature, and get stronger the arm strength will continue to improve. I'm excited to see his development this fall compared to where he was in 2024.      Connor doesn't have a ton of tape to go through, yet. However, there are plenty of things to be excited about. First off, the freshman is already an impressive 6'2" 275 lbs. The short highlights show a quick burst out of his stance and solid initial pop. On top of the physical traits, Connor attends Kimberly where they have a strong track record of offseason development. Connor is a kid that we could see breakout in 2025. Get this kid on your radar early.      Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1709777' first='Jaxson' last='Beaumont'] is coming off a season where he was able to quickly earn a role on varsity and that role seemed to grow as the season went on. Beaumont played primarily CB, but also has stats as a runner, receiver, and returner for Clinton. The Clinton coaching staff weren't afraid to leave Jaxson out on an island in his freshman season. The freshman CB has quick feet and sudden/loose hips to be able to turn and run or come downhill to make a tackle. Jaxson has shown that in man coverage he can stay on the hip of much older, and usually larger, WRs. I'm pumped to see how he comes back in 2025 with that experience and an offseason to work under his belt.      Carter is a physically imposing athlete coming through the Bay Port program. He is already 6'1" 235 lbs and Carter does very well using that size and his strength to dominate in the trenches. Even on plays he doesn't get to the ball he is trying to whoop somebody; usually the opposing OL. The budding DL has the strength to hold the line of scrimmage and also drive his way into the backfield. He is developing an explosive first step and his hands are active when engaged with an OL. The rising freshman also takes reps in the backfield where more of that physicality is used as a blocker.      Kimberly is home to an impressive freshman WR with a high ceiling in [player_tooltip player_id='1709789' first='Blake' last='Diedrick']. The 6' 170 lbs athlete has so much room for his game and frame to mature over the coming years, but the way he stands out vs his freshman peers is very noteworthy. Blake is able to get deep quick on go, posts, or corner routes. He has natural hands and ball tracking skills, especially downfield. Blake does really well getting the ball at the high point too, and he is willing to throw his body around as a blocker. I'm excited for what is to come from Blake in the future.      Racine Case has been pumping out explosive athletes in recent years, and that trend looks like it will continue with kids like freshman Safari Simpson- Guenther. Zadari's well developed speed, agility, and body control allow him to knife through secondaries before and after the catch. The '28 clearly is developing that playmaking ability of finding ways to create something out of nothing or a standard play into a big play. Zadari is so elusive too. He is able to create space and then accelerate away from defenders, plus he has shown that he can break some tackles too vs DBs. The Case '28 ATH is a fun one to watch. Keep an eye on him.
