Slot receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1301834' first='Kyshawn' last='Decartaret'] has shown the ability to beat opponents' deep; however, where I think he specializes is in the underneath game. Decartaret can make something out of nothing with the screen game and can take bubbles to the house. Adjusting to the ball does not seem to be a problem either, as he shows this on film, as well as the body control and balance necessary to maximize his catch radius. For whatever reason, Decartaret was the recipient of a lot of bubble passes where he demonstrated a variety of skills, including willingness to cut across the field. Against certain defenders he can gain the perimeter for solid gains. A theme for the Minutemen seems to be protecting the ball and Decartaret is no exception as he secures it to his chest. Closing out our evaluation on Decartaret is his run blocking, where he is a bit shorter, he uses this to absolutely get into someone's grill as he works his hands above his eyes, presses, and drives his feet.

Like Elizabeth, Wayne Valley has had several prospects of note throughout this rankings update. [player_tooltip player_id='1515103' first='Luke' last='Rubino'], a receiver, does a great job showcasing how he can create space throughout his route. Rubino's toolbox is equipped with shoulder fakes, stutter steps, and hip snaps. Like any receiver worth his weight in salt, Rubino can run by defenders vertically. He finds himself especially loose when he exploits defenders with stiff hips. I really liked Rubino's catch radius and how he uses it to safely corral poorly thrown balls by extending his hands and arms to catch the ball.

One of the first things I desire when evaluating receivers is the hip snap - a good barometer of how well a receiver can create separation as he runs is route. Seton Hall Prep's [player_tooltip player_id='1558148' first='Matthew' last='Bergwall'] seems to understands this principle and applies it on his comeback-type routes. Furthermore, on similar routes we see him come back to the ball as he knows it is safest and best positioned in his hands. Something else I noticed from Bergwall's tape was how he highlighted himself running a large number of routes toward the middle and across the field - a rarity in a lot of cases on film. That said, he is willing to accept contact and big hits when running said routes for the sake of security the grab. Lastly, like any solid over-the-middle possession-type receiver he does a great job of adjusting to arrant throws, particularly the high ones.

There just might be something there in [player_tooltip player_id='1557397' first='Ronan' last='Malady']. A product of an outstanding program at Old Tappan, Malady showed great rapport with his quarterback, almost demanding the ball when he was opposed by off-coverage. A two-way threat, Malady also has the speed to blow past some. Malady has a ball carriers mindset as he is awfully tough to bring down once he possesses the ball. With a tendency to fall forward due to forward lean when he runs, this receiver also has a few cuts within him to make the first man miss. No pass is neither too hot for Malady to handle nor too close to the sideline, as he has showcased soft hands and the ability to toe-tap near the boundary. As danger looms, he will shift his focus from making a man miss to ball security as well.
<!-- wp:acf/hudl {"name":"acf/hudl","data":{"embed_code":"u003ciframe The fun part of being involved with state rankings is that I have the chance to come across prospects that I think are total gems. The best part is that I get to celebrate those prospects, write about them, and – hopefully – deliver some deserving attention their way.
