We dive into a little of home with this scouting report, as we look at two programs that are the closest to where I live and two that I spend a lot of time in whether this is watching games, going out to eat, etc. First we will look at the 4A State Champions from the Becker Bulldogs, who dominated 4A and both state games I was able to watch at US Bank Stadium in November. Then there is Big Lake, which from what I have grasped, have a little more depth in their 2026 class than Becker does at the moment and to me is a program that has been on the rise in 4A as this 2026 class might be one of their better senior classes I have seen in a while for the Hornets. Let's dig in on our evaluations below.

Thatcher was a name that intrigued me on the Bulldogs offensive line during watching them in the state championship game this November. The 6'1 250 pounder impressed me with his angle blocking on against Totino-Grace especially too with his sound leverage he established on one of the better defensive ends in the state. He is one that has promsing upside creating more finish on his blocks but is one that wins reps with his good footwork and improvement with his pad-level in his junior season. Thatcher is one that can get down to the second level consistently as well as one that has a great shot at playing at the next-level.

It's worth repeating, if I dished out overall MVP amongst the best athletes at the state championship games this November, [player_tooltip player_id='1602739' first='Sawyer' last='Brown'] surely would have gotten my nod for his play on both sides of the ball. The pick six he recorded, resonated with me due to his excellent and persuasive tight coverage as he showed that on a constant basis all along in the two games I watched at US Bank Stadium. Offensively, Sawyer shows off an eye-catching release that shows off great form with his 6'1 180 pound frame and shows how well he can stretch on the field on deep routes. The position flexibility this young man has is going to surely impress college coaches this summer as Sawyer is an athlete in the highest regard.

Alexander John, DE, Big Lake 2026

The 6'4 210 pound defensive end out of Big Lake has a much more agile first step off the snap than you might expect for a defensive end prospect at his size as this kid plays with a boatload of finesse when he gets to the ball carrier. Alexander is also impressive with his aggressive low base as one that has the dexterity to get under the pads of the offensive line with ease. He also possesses quick small area vision that can also show disruption around the edge of the inside box. He surely looks like another Big Lake Hornet that surely looks like he can play at the next-level. If someone has this young man on Twitter, let me know!

[player_tooltip player_id='1651160' first='Henry' last='Kuchera'], OL, Big Lake 2026 Twitter

One of the most intriguing next-level prospects to me out of Big Lake, is 6'5 245 pounder [player_tooltip player_id='1651160' first='Henry' last='Kuchera']. The already two-year starter for the Hornets, has long arms and a solid base for his size and you can tell early on tape focuses efficently on making sure his pad-level is balanced before he lands his punch as a right tackle that is proficent in pass pro. Henry is one that can drive his man into the second level as I like the barrelling hands and balance this kid possesses and still has some promising upside to intrigue even more in the coming years. He surely looks like a scholarship talent in my eyes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1256246' first='Jack' last='Midas'], WR/LB, Big Lake 2026 Twitter

The 6'1 170 pounder shows off his junior tape as a wide receiver that shows off fluid and agile movement as a route-runner that his change of direction can pave some dividends with getting seperation. You can't miss on the first rep, the catch radius Jack has too, as I would love to get a number on where that comes out at camps this summer. The catch radius shows off as very consistently seen on tape as Jack is one that I feel plays way bigger than his measurables might show you. He doesn't need much of a window to make his receptions, which is another skillset Jack adds to the table. Yet another prospect out of this Big Lake 2026 class destined for playing on Saturdays.

[player_tooltip player_id='1651158' first='Montell' last='Hester'], RB/LB, Big Lake 2026 Twitter

One of Big Lake's only juniors that was an All-District performer in the Skyway last season, is running back/linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1651158' first='Montell' last='Hester']. The 6'0 200 pounder, shows off a visually appealing football IQ that gets his start with it on tape in the return game on kickoffs as one that is quick to identify the gaps and utilzes all his speed once he hits the open field. He shows off a soundly fluid finish with the ball in his hands and does not waste any time getting into the open field and breaking away from the secondary with his speed. I also love Montell's durability getting yards after contact in the inside box as this young man gives off a bowling ball mentality on his contact runs. Montell is surely another target that looks like a scholarship talent on Saturdays.
