Beautiful Sunday for some Film Room breakdowns! I'm continuing coverage of the 2026 class by stepping into the film room to look at some prospects flying under the radar. In this article, I'm specifically looking at (current) juniors in the Lincoln Area who should be getting more attention from colleges.

[player_tooltip player_id='779708' first='Markus' last='Nelson'] (@MarkusNelson19), RB - Norris - 5'10" 200 lbs

Despite his season being cut short, junior RB [player_tooltip player_id='779708' first='Markus' last='Nelson'] still had a solid showing in his first season with the Norris Titans. Nelson played in four games where he rushed for 437 yards and two rushing touchdowns, averaging 109 yards a game. Nelson is a battering ram of a RB with a strong, compact frame at 5'10" and 200 pounds. Markus does an excellent job wearing defenses out between the tackles with tough, angry runs that don't end after the first, second, or even third tackle attempt, using his powerful base to bounce off contact and maintain his balance. Once you get to him, you can expect a fight to bring him down as he will dish out mean stiff arms, drop his shoulder pads, and keep his legs pumping through it all. Markus isn't a one-trick pony though as he also has explosive speed that can break away from defenses when he finds the open field. He hit his gaps like a bullet with top-tier vision to guide him through running lanes and excellent cut back ability to flip his runs. Underrated receiving back. I'm looking forward to seeing what Markus can do with a fully healthy season.

Ashland-Greenwood's [player_tooltip player_id='1625826' first='Landon' last='Mohs'] emerged as one of the top ball-hawks in the 2026 cycle, ending the year tied for first in the state with eight interceptions (one returned for a TD). Mohs also posted 21 total tackles, a TFL, 303 receiving yards, four receiving touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown. Watching Landon's tape, you see a cornerback with excellent instincts and feel for the game, quickly recognizing route concepts and reading the QB's eyes to know exactly where the ball is going. He does a great job cutting off routes with the closing speed and ball skills to go up and snag the pass for himself, doesn't hurt to also have solid size for a CB at 6'0" and 165 lbs. Mohs plays with nice fluidity in his hips and feet, allowing him to quickly change directions with his receiver and remain in their hip pocket through the rep. Landon should also get some serious looks on the offensive side of the ball, where he uses his twitchy route-running to create separation from defenders while also having the speed to slip past defenses for the home run. Great hands at the catch point with the body control and concentration to adjust to the ball and his surroundings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1114613' first='Carter' last='Gokie'] (@carter_gokie), DL/TE - Lincoln Pius X - 6'4" 240 lbs

Pius X's [player_tooltip player_id='1114613' first='Carter' last='Gokie'] is a versatile prospect with the upside to develop very well at a few positions including defensive end or tight end. I'm interested in his potential on the defensive side of the ball where his lengthy frame and athleticism could see him turn into a terror for opposing backfields. Gokie finished his junior season with 39.5 tackles, 13 TFLs, and a forced fumble. He has a taller, lengthier frame at 6'4" and a clean 240 pounds with room to add size at the next level comfortably. Carter is quick with his first step and has underrated strength, allowing him to anchor down and set the edge to defend the run. Gokie's pursuit and non-stop motor were also impressive as he constantly made plays coming off the backside or chasing down ball carriers 20+ yards downfield. Good tackling technique with the power to finish the play. I'm curious to see what Carter would look like playing more of a standing EDGE/OLB role up near the line of scrimmage. On the offensive side of the ball, Carter could fill the role of a tight end/H-back hybrid with his ability to lead block and potential as a pass-catcher.

[player_tooltip player_id='1105174' first='Connor' last='Dews'] (@dews_connor), OL - Lincoln East - 6'4" 280 lbs

Lincoln East's [player_tooltip player_id='1105174' first='Connor' last='Dews'] took massive leaps in year three as he emerged as one of the top offensive tackles in the class. The first thing that stood out when watching Connor's tape was his ability to be plugged in at either left or right tackle and not skip a beat. Another thing that popped on tape was his physicality and aggressiveness at the point of attack. As a run-blocker, he can fire out of his stance to take the fight to his opponent, quickly making initial contact and using his powerful base to drive defenders out of running lanes. Gets to the second level very well and stays looking for more work downfield. Dews also made big gains in pass-protection, displaying great lateral burst and fluid footwork to get to his spot and corrall pass rushers. He is accurate with his hand strikes and can often gain the inside hand advantage, where he can dominate his opponent and drive them into the dirt. Great block finisher. Definitely someone to try and get on campus for a camp this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1105194' first='Louis' last='Welstead'] (@LouisWelstead1), WR/ATH - Lincoln North Star - 5'11" 160 lbs

Lincoln North Star's [player_tooltip player_id='1105194' first='Louis' last='Welstead'] is a player we've been very high on since the 7v7 season during his freshman year. Although the stats may not pop off the page, Welstead has shown that he is a very consistent receiver with testing numbers that should draw the attention of colleges. The first thing that stands out about Welstead is his top-tier speed, with a reported 4.44 40-yard time, which makes him a threat to go deep or break away for a big gain after the catch on short/intermediate plays. He is a very polished route runner who can explode off the ball, build speed, and sharply go in and out of his breaks. Louis' crisp route-running allows him to easily beat man coverage by creating separation at the top of the route. He also displays the football IQ to identify zone coverages and attack the weak spots. Very reliable hands with underrated strength and concentration to hold on through contested catches. Doesn't hesitate to go over the middle. Lots of upside on the defensive side of the ball as a shifty cornerback with great ball skills and the closing speed to make plays on the ball. Top-tier athlete who could gain momentum with strong camps this summer.
