Initially I was going to kickoff a new series called "Monday Morning Quarterbacking" which will be a weekly feature covering quarterbacks and who they worked with to star the prior week, or in the off-season follow their process for greatness as they get ready for the next season.

But, as d-back coaches say, always have yo "head on a swivel" - never know what might be coming next...

In a late review of my notes it was apparent I had some guys who I have been wanting to either do a follow-up on or get them covered for the first time so their names are out, but had not given a shout out to in this latest wave of off-season reports.

Consequently, the highly-anticipated "Monday Morning Quarterbacking" weekly report will have to kick off next Monday. Apologies up front if that spoils anyone's day.

Head still on a swivel...

In this report we will be looking at a variety of positions in a variety of classes to keep it interesting. These guys are all coming off good seasons from a year ago and are killing it in the weight room, doing speed work and playing competitive 7v7.

So, without further adieu, let's give these guys a look:

[player_tooltip player_id='1624953' first='Nolan' last='Pfannenstiel'], 5'11, 195, Andale, ATH, '27, he is coming off a breakthrough sophomore season when he played multiple positions on both sides of the ball and helped the Indians to a 13-0 record and 3A State Championship after they scoring 24 unanswered points to take out powerful Topeka Hayden. He is a versatile playmaker with a powerful frame and great instincts who can and will play wherever the team needs him most. This coming season he will be focusing on playing inside linebacker and on offense split between fullback and tight end. He is coming off an injury but has been hard at it doing his recovery work and will be ready to excel this spring playing hardball. As good as he is in football, he might be even better as a baseball player, as he stays busy flying around the country playing at an ultra-competitive level. This guy is going to make some noise in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1624946' first='Peyton' last='Anderson'], 6'3, 255, OL/C, Chanute, '26, he is coming off a solid season helping his team to an 8-3 record and going deep into the playoffs. A team player in the trenches, he can be moved around to different positions as needed, but has really established himself in the middle. He has good size and reach, trained feet and plays an intellectual game sizing up the defense, getting leveraging position and shaking off bad plays when they arise. He operates as a leader along the line working in unison with his 'mates to wall off the defense from getting to the Blue Comet's electrifying skill players. He can make all the blocks, from bashing nose guards to chipping off to pick up linebackers. He is also solid in pass pro and spends time in the film room to get better and understand what the defense is going to do. He is going to have a big season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='637193' first='Brekston' last='Young'], 6'0, 165, QB, Eisenhower, '27, he is coming off a season playing limited time backing up an all-state QB, but put the opportunity to good use. He appears to be a great fit for the starting QB spot and will help the high-powered Tiger offense continue to torch defenses this fall. He has an excellent all-around game as a dual-threat who is a dangerous runner when the play breaks down, but is also comfortable sitting in the pocket and carving up the defense with surgical strikes at all levels. He has excellent mechanics in the pocket, with a tight shoulder rotation and weight transfer and snaps the ball off with a smooth quick release. He has been powerlifting in the off-season, but will shift gears shortly to take his game to the next level in 7v7 with the Kansas Colts 18U team. Get your popcorn ready, he is going to put on a show this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1488806' first='Nick' last='Fry'], 5'10, 160, RB/LB, Hesston, '28, he is another young gun stud in the making out of Hesston who is coming off a solid freshman season and gave coaches and fans a glimpse of great things to come. He showed right out of the gate he was ready for the varsity game as he was comfortable stuffing the run or sinking in pass pro. In particular, he was a torpedo of a hitter coming out of the secondary and blowing up plays at the LOS. He was also good floating in zone over the top, reading the quarterback's eyes, calculating angles and then collaping on the pass quickly. He has a high-ceiling and comes from good DNA as his brother Jackson is a talented defensive back and athlete with Concordia. This spring he is on the loaded Kansas Colts. Get ready to see him come into his own this fall and ball out.

[player_tooltip player_id='934534' first='Talon' last='Regier'] , 5'9, 155, WR/DB, Hillsboro, '27, He is coming off a limited start to his high school career but was able to get acclimated to the varsity game as a promising kickoff return man last fall. For this coming season he is preparing to step in and dominate as a go-to wide receiver who will help the Trojans continue to air it out in 2025. He is quick and elusive, generating separation off the ball in press coverage and instantly rolling into running precise routes and getting open. He has sticky hands and can make the tough catch on contested balls over the middle or the clutch catch in the end zone. He has the skill sets to shine on both sides of the ball and this spring is another player taking his talents to the Kansas Colts. This guy is on the verge of a breakout season.

In conclusion, these guys are going to be fun to watch this fall - definitely get out and give them a look-see. And, as always, if you run across any players getting ignored, let me know via DM on X. Keep grindin'...
