With the quiet period of recruiting coming to a close and winter sports peaking you can feel the energy build up as we roll into March. Add to that 7v7 heating up and spring sports coming in hard and fast.

It is getting ready to go from 0-60 in a matter of weeks.

Following the player's off-season trajectory is both interesting and telling. You get an idea who is committed to the grind, possesses the drive to get better and those who like going on social media for some occasional lip service and brand building.

The off-season requires a good start to solidify the routine, perserverance to work through the grind and filter out noise, and then have the foresight to structure your training so you are peaking when August comes around.

The important thing is, finish what you start...

In this report we are revisiting three dynamic quarterbacks and a couple of up-and-coming offensive skill players who I have devoted quite a bit of tape time to and by all indications they are all getting ready to dismantle defenses across the state this fall.

So without further adieu, let's take a look at the Friday Five:

[player_tooltip player_id='1627578' first='Nick' last='Nabazas'], 5'10, 175, RB/LB, Bishop Miege, '27, he is coming off an excellent sophomore season helping the Stags to a state-runner-up finish in the 4A State Championship. Along the way he made a big contribution in the running game as an all-purpose back who can pound the rock but is also an excellent receiver out of the backfield. He typically lines up as the lone setback and when he takes the handoff, instantly reads his blocks, makes decisive cuts and with great burst and acceleration is in the secondary. He is elusive with great feet and can stop and start on a dime weaving through traffic. Between the tackles, he uses his powerful leg drive and balance to get the extra yard. On the year he piled up 600+ total yards rushing and receiving and also returned a couple of kickoffs. This guy is going to have breakout season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1627580' first='Quinn' last='Street'], 6'0, 175, ATH/QB, Osage, '26, he is coming off a rollercoaster junior year when he went from the frustration of an untimely injury to the exhiliration of slicing and dicing defenses by the end of the season. After sustaining a hand injury that limited him to six total games, he made up for lost time in a hurry. He is a versatile playmaker who can line up anywhere but is most dangerous as a dual-threat quarterback. In his four games on offense he hammered the opposition, piling up 1,000+ yards running and passing, completed 72% of his passes and totaled 11 TD's. He has a good arm, particularly throwing on the move with sharp ball placement. On defense in six games (played two with a club) he had 30 tackles, three TFL and picked off two passes. This guy is a gamechanger. Get ready for some fireworks.

[player_tooltip player_id='934979' first='Pete' last='Dorsey'] , 6'1, 175, QB/DB, Wellsville, '27, he is another athletic, dual-threat dominator with a versatile game that impresses me more everytime I watch his tape. He has a surprisingly mature game already and is equally adept at dissecting defenses with his arm or ripping through defenders off the RPO. For the year he fired 57 completions out of 103 passes for just under 900 yards, a 55% completion percentage and threw nine TD's to only one interception for an elite-level passer rating of 109. He also picked up 400+ yards rushing and nine more touchdowns to give him 1,300+ total yards and 18 TDs. On defense he was in on 25 tackles and had a couple of tackles for loss. No more flying under the radar for this guy, he is going scorched earth in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1403641' first='Gannon' last='Jacobson'] , 6'2, 180, QB/DB, SE Saline, '26, he is coming off one of the more spectacular junior seasons in the Sunflower state as he led the Trojans to an undefeated 13-0 record and the 2A state championship. And, he wasn't just along for the ride, he was the driving force who came up huge with clutch performances time and time again when all seemed lost. On the season he put together one of the more impressive stat lines in addition to being a state champion QB, running and passing for 3,053 total yards and accounting for 44 touchdowns, with a passer rating of 108. He was also a standout defensive back, picking up 67 tackles, three TFL and picked off a pass. He can also punt as needed and stays busy year around as a three-sport stud in the making. This guy will be nothing short of en fuego this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588350' first='Owen' last='Luper'] , 6'0, 170, ATH/WR, Sedgwick, '26, he is coming off a good junior season as a wideout and athlete on the Cardinals high-octane offense and played well enough to be named to the all-state non-senior team. He is a multi-positional athlete who helped his team to an 8-2 season and into the playoffs. He is versatile on offense, completing the only pass he threw for a 41-yard TD, and then caught 40 passes for 589 yards, and was second on the team with a 15-yard per reception average. On defense he is a head hunter free safety who was in on 20 tackles and posted a pair of tackles for loss. He is a three-sport rising star who is currently hooping it up and will play baseball in the spring. This guy is just coming into his own and is going to blow it up in 2025.

In conclusion, get these guys on your watchlist as they are well on their way to starring on the gridiron next fall. And, as always, if you come across players or teams not getting any attention, give me a shout on X via DM. Keep grindin'…
