Recruiting News and Notes

We still have plenty of recruiting news and notes to highlight this week. It has been a busy week on the recruiting trail for prospects across the state. Here are several players making recruiting headlines this week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='202575' first='Kane' last='Archer']-Quarterback-Greenwood-6'2” 207-Pounds-2026</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Greenwood signal-caller has had no trouble opening eyes over the past few years. Archer's tremendous performance over the past few years has helped him earn another scholarship this week. He has added the Utah Utes to the mix to now have 23 scholarship offers extended his way. Archer is a quarterback who will pick you apart from a passing perspective but also use his legs to punish opposing defenses. He has the potential to break even more records this upcoming season for the Bulldogs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1571432' first='Jayce' last='Peoples']-Defensive Back-Little Rock Southwest-6'0” 185-Pounds-2025</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fresh off a strong 2024 football season, the Little Rock Southwest prospect continued his momentum into the offseason. Peoples had a terrific camp at the Prep Redzone Showcase in Little Rock. He is a physical defensive back who has the speed to disrupt the opposing passing attack. Earlier in the week, Peoples earned a scholarship offer from Doane University as well as Bethel College. He is a player to watch out for on Sundays in the future.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1554630' first='Matthew' last='Nelson']-Defensive Line-Bryant-6'5” 215-Pounds-2026</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1554630' first='Matthew' last='Nelson'] is an edge rusher who can explode off the edge and get into the opposing offensive backfield. Nelson does a great job of shedding blocks and getting to the ball carrier. He has a high motor and does not give up on a play. Earlier in the week, the talented Bryant defensive lineman earned a scholarship offer from the Naval Academy. Nelson is a prospect who I expect to have a big senior season for the Hornets.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1532731' first='Trey' last='Stewart']-Running Back-Little Rock Central-6'2” 202-Pounds-2027</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1532731' first='Trey' last='Stewart'] has had no trouble the past few weeks opening plenty of eyes. He is having tremendous camps to go along with a strong 2024 football season. Stewart has the versatility to play multiple positions and excel at each one. From the running back spot, he is a patient runner who does a nice job of allowing rushing lanes to develop before exploding through the hole. Earlier in the week, Stewart earned a scholarship offer from the SMU Mustangs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='207186' first='Evan' last='Goodwin']-Offensive Line-Bauxite-6'7” 320-Pounds-2026</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='207186' first='Evan' last='Goodwin'] is a prospect who has blown up from a recruiting perspective over the past year or so. Goodwin is an explosive offensive lineman who uses his hands well to drive opposing defenders away from his quarterbacks. Goodwin has no trouble opening up rushing lanes and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He has had a busy week from a recruiting perspective. Goodwin earned scholarship offers from USC as well as Ohio State. He is a major target to watch out for this offseason.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
