Time to kick off our position breakdowns in conjunction with Thursday's release of the updated 2026 rankings here on Prep Redzone Iowa. It's fun watching this group get closer to college decisions as these guys navigate the recruiting process.

We'll start with the all-encompassing Athlete category, which is headlined by our overall No. 1 prospect in the class, Valley [player_tooltip player_id='283946' first='Jayden' last='McGregory']. It's a classification that has become deeper in talent with the growth of off-season development programs and 7-on-7 leagues.

Here's a group of student-athletes with new or refreshed scouting reports:

Robbins' recruitment has picked up recently. After landing a scholarship offer from Dartmouth in December, the versatile performer added offers from North Dakota State and South Dakota State in February. Robbins averaged 6.8 yards and scored three touchdowns on 48 carries. He caught 39 passes for 589 yards and 10 touchdowns. On defense, he racked up 28.5 tackles and four interceptions, including a Pick-6. He averaged 22.6 yards per kick return and 13.0 on punt returns. It's a junior highlight video filled with big plays. He might be best suited for the slot but has the speed to play outside. He's a sound route runner. Norwalk utilized him the wildcat. His skill set also fits nicely into the secondary.

Allie often was overshadowed by super senior teammates [player_tooltip player_id='252221' first='Alex' last='Manske'] and [player_tooltip player_id='252334' first='Jack' last='Limbaugh']. The junior played a key role in the Bulldogs' success, though. He caught 36 passes for 786 yards and eight touchdowns in '24. On defense, he delivered 23.5 tackles (19 solo, 1.0 TFL) and five interceptions. He also excelled on kick and punt returns, returning one of the latter for a TD. Allie's junior highlight video reveals an excellent athlete who's a prospect on both sides of the ball. He operates well from the slot and in the middle of the field as a receiver. Allie is a physical defensive back that could work at slot corner or safety on the next level.

Middleton is an intriguing prospect as a productive player on both sides of the ball. His body type fits best at running back, where rushed for 216 yards and five touchdowns during the Maroons' march to the state semifinals. That's where I scouted him live. He impressed as a physical ball carrier and force on the defensive line. Middleton piled up 12.0 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks. His junior highlight video shows us a well-rounded running back who does his best work inside the tackles but also can make people miss. On defense, he plays will excellent leverage and superior strength with sound technique.

Thompson's versatility served the Rams well during their run to a fourth state title in a row last season. He rushed 102 times for 597 yards and nine touchdowns, caught 25 passes for 174 yards and three scores, and averaged 21.8 yards on 13 kick returns. I scouted Thompson in September at Prairie and again in the state semifinals. Combining those occasions with his junior highlight video, I feel comfortable saying Thompson can help teams on the next level in multiple ways. He shows good speed, a keen feel for the game and a knack for making plays. It's a skill set that also work at defensive back.

Mullens impressed me with his performance in the state semifinals last season. He housed one from 99 yards out. It's that big-play ability that has more colleges taking notice. Iowa, South Dakota State and a host of other programs have invited him for spring practices and summer camps. He caught 31 passes for 610 yards and eight touchdowns. His junior highlight video is an entertaining one as he slices and dices up the competition. He also showed potential at defensive back, where college coaches might want to work him out at summer camps.

Street's recruitment has ticked up this offseason with camp and junior day invitations coming from South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Cornell and others. A good all-around athlete, Street is a 1,000-point scorer for the Osage hoops team. During his junior highlight video, he displays potential on both sides of the ball. He's dangerous with the rock in his hands on offense. Defensively, he possesses the traits to be a productive defensive back at the next level. Street is also capable of contributing significantly on special teams.
