More rankings countdowns incoming from our 2027 SD rankings, as we meet the prospects on our 2027 rankings ranked #100 to #96, a group that has some great upside left to prove in their high school football career.

Derek is one that peaks on both sides of the ball, but stuck out in our rankings at running back in the 2027 class out of Hitchcock-Tulare. The 5'10 170 pounder appears to be more durable than you would expect for his size and is a running back that once he gets downhill within five yards, you start to see the upside that I saw this young man that is a new addition to our rankings. Also shows off fluid movement with raw tape that showed off his best tape against Northwestern Area. Could have position flexibility as other tape shows him at linebacker and defensive back.

Another newcomer to the 2027 SD rankings is [player_tooltip player_id='1625463' first='Dayne' last='Krinke'] out of the Canistota Hawks. Dayne is a run-first quarterback that showed off his best tape against Oldham-Ramona-Rutland in 2024. That tape shows off good elusiveness from the first look and seems to hae the upside to for more change of direction in the near future. I could tell Dayne is one that is still figuring out how to use his athleticism but once he figures it out more in depth has the upside to be more a force in the run game for the Hawks.

Cooper is a 5'9 165 pound linebacker that I feel thus far might have the best upside amongst this first group in this rankings countdown. The LB/WR out of Wosley-Wessington, has the athletic movement as a linebacker that interests me on tape, but can surely develop better pursuit angles getting to the ball faster. He shows off a gradual shedding ability as a runner stuffer that I feel when he is near the ball he shows off good productivity. Hopefully we can see a sophomore tape to see the best of the best of Cooper's play in 2024 as that might raise his stock by next update.

[player_tooltip player_id='1625455' first='Will' last='Penfield'], RB/LB, Lemmon-McIntosh

One of the most sizable running backs in this group is [player_tooltip player_id='1625455' first='Will' last='Penfield'] of Lemmon McIntosh. The 5'9 180 pounder for the Cowboys, has the upside to look like a bull downhill at a rodeo based on what my eyes can see. Will can develop by improving with his vision and one look I see on tape is trusting his inital gut with his first read by making his cut vs. hesitating with multiple reads with his vision. There looks to be some position flexibility with Will, as I felt the instincts he has at linebacker could have a bigger ceiling even with limited tape. No Twitter I could find yet.

The first tight end on our 2027 that we meet is [player_tooltip player_id='1625454' first='Caiden' last='Wherry'] out of Gayville-Volin. Most of the tight end tape out there for Caiden shows off his blocking abilities, which show off hands that can latch and drive into the second level on numerous occasions. Caiden shows off a past midfield touchdown reception on tape that would have had a higher grade if he had it sooner on tape however that shows off that Caiden could move up our rankings faster. Caiden has lots of size to grow as a 6'0 180 pound tight end in this 2027 class as another small town prospect to know.
