Almost two months are gone in the new year and it has gone by fast. Before you know it the fall season will be upon us.

As such, once each month comes to a close, the guys sweating out the grind in the off-season instinctively ratchet up the tempo a little more each month heading into this fall.

The key is to incrementally train hard in the off-season, build on it month by month to a crescendo level by late summer and hit pre-season practice in bullet-proof condition. Mentally and physically primed to perform at the highest level.

The key is to relentlessly make those training deposits in the off-season. Don't do it and you may find yourself late in the game or season reaching down deep to answer the challenge before you, only to discover there is nothing left.

You are overdrawn at a crucial point in the season when your team needed you most.

In this report we will take a look at five guys who are hard at it making sure that scenario does not play out for them. Between off-season sports and fall-training, they are already grinding. Below are a couple of skill players from the Kansas City area, a few guys getting ready to own the trenches and a baller d-back from the Wichita and the surrounding area.

So, without further adieu, let's take a closer look at the Thursday Five:

[player_tooltip player_id='780477' first='Blaise' last='Adger'] , 5'11, 210, RB, Olathe North, '26 – he is a versatile RB who can pound it inside or burn up the perimeter on the sweep. He is coming off an excellent junior season when he gained just under 800 total yards on 650+ yards rushing and another 140+ yards receiving, and 11 touchdowns. He is a battering ram of a back between the tackles with a strong base and powerful legs that he uses to plow through arm tackles and pick up big yardage after the initial hit. He is a headbanger pounding the rock in the middle but is also an elusive scatback of a runner who can instantly reverse direction and use the entire field running to paydirt if needed. He is also a physical blocker on the corner when called on. This guy is getting ready to blow it up in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1115927' first='Gunner' last='Goalden'] , 6'0, 265, OL/DL, Hesston, '27, he is already a battle-tested trench warrior after coming off another excellent season. As a sophomore last fall he went full-throttle, piling up 60 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and three sacks. On offense he is a versatile mauler along the line of scrimmage who can play guard or tackle and on defense is down inside as a three or five technique. He has a strong frame and rock-solid base who gets off the ball with good pad level and quickness and hammers defenders into the dirt. He has good feet and read and react skills on defense and essentially shuts down the run game in his area. He is another player working with Coach Daniels (@RashadDaniels12) in the off-season. This guy is a baller who is going to demolish the opposition this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='944904' first='Aedyn' last='Acosta'], 6'1, 195, WR/DB, Bishop Carroll, '27, he is coming off a good season as an athletic playmaker on both sides of the ball. On offense he is a quick, shifty wideout who is a good runner and can extend plays after the catch or on the jet sweep. On defense he was even better, earning all-conference recognition as a shut-down cornerback. He can bump and run and flip hips shadowing the wideout or sink in zone and with seasoned instincts consistently disrupt the passing game. He will also collapse down on the run and when he arrives delivers a blow at the line of scrimmage. On the year he had 12 tackles, intercepted a pair of passes and blocked a punt. He is also working with Coach Daniels (@RashadDaniels12) in the off-season. This guy is going to dominate in 2025.

Braeden Gordon, 5'9, 225, OL, Clearwater, '26, he is coming off a good junior season as a physical brawler of an offensive lineman who played well enough to earn all conference honors for his play. Although he can play anywhere along the line of scrimmage he is particularly effective inside playing either guard. He has a powerful base, great feet and weaponized hands that he uses to wall off in pass pro or pull and lead the running back on the perimeter. In the run game he is a devastating down blocker who routinely buries the defender in the turf, or can chip off and nail the linebacker if needed. Last fall he piled up an impressive 30 pancake blocks. In the off-season he is already hard at it getting ready for a breakout season. This guy is going to be a beast this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664431' first='Savion' last='Stone'], 6'3, 205, QB, KC Washington, '26. He is another dual-threat playmaker not getting much attention early but it didn't take long for scouts and coaches to recognize his next-level skill set. He has prototype size and athleticism and can flawlessly run the RPO or sling darts from the pocket. He has a gun for an arm and can make all the throws, from surgical strikes in the quick passing game to the deep velocity throws on comebacks and deep posts. Last season he completed 86 of 150 passes for 1,250 yards through the air, 58% completion percentage, 12 TD's, six picks and a 101.0 passer rating. He also rushed for 1,000+ yards to be one of the few QB's to attain 1K+ yardage running and passing. This guy is an under-the-radar stud who is getting ready to be the big dawg this fall.

In conclusion, if you like all-around athletic play and excellence at multiple positions get out and see these guys in action this fall. You will not be disappointed. And, as always, if you run across a player or team flying under the radar give me a shout via DM on X. Keep grindin'...
