<p>Members of the Iowa Savages 15U 7-on-7 squad probably can finish each other's sentences. They share a unique familiarity having been teammates since the third grade. </p>

<p>The oldest squad in one of the state's up-and-coming programs, Savages won the 15U state title in 2024 along with regional championships in Missouri, Nebraska and Minnesota. They also finished third in a Pylon tournament in New Orleans. </p>

<p>Savages kick off the season competing in Kansas City, Atlanta and Columbia (MO) next month before returning to Iowa to play. They will compete in selected 18U events within the state despite being a team of high school freshmen. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='1596610' first='Jayden' last='Stephens'] enjoyed a productive ninth-grade campaign at Waverly-Shell Rock last Fall. He carried 11 times for 250 yards and two touchdowns, caught nine passes for 224 and a pair of scores, intercepted a pass and averaged 26.0 yards on 11 kick returns. </p>

<p>The Go-Hawks also supply this outfit with [player_tooltip player_id='1657063' first='Quinn' last='Lockard'], who played receiver and defensive back on the freshman team last season. The rest of the squad is made up student-athletes from Cedar Falls and Waterloo East. </p>

<p>Savages 15U are coached by former Northern Iowa quarterback Tom Petrie. His son, <a href="https://x.com/BaylorPetrie13/status/1883562627479330853">Baylor Petrie</a>, calls signals for it. He's a dual-threat QB that looks comfortable passing from the pocket, throwing on the move or gashing defenses with his legs. </p>

<p>Baylor Petrie shares a good connection with Tiger teammates [player_tooltip player_id='205630' first='Taylor' last='Carter'] (son of former UNI RB Richard Carter), Noah Lee and Carsen Gary. Cedar Falls freshman Ayden Williams can make plays all around the field.</p>

<p>Waterloo East's [player_tooltip player_id='1596629' first='Gianni' last='Gary'] proved to be one of the better freshmen in the state last season. He led the Trojans with 24 receptions for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also intercepted a pass and returned 23 kicks for 421 yards and a score. </p>

<p>Isaiah Thomas, Jadyn Perkins and Terrance Sayles also saw action on the East varsity as freshmen in 2024. </p>
