In The Trenches 2.0: Under-the-Radar Kentucky Linemen

This is the second instilment of top OL / DL in the state of Kentucky. Each week we will highlight OL / DL that should be big time recruits for college coaches.    Levi is a solid interior offensive lineman from East Jessamine High School. His performance during his junior season played a key role in helping his team double its wins compared to the previous year. He possesses a strong base that enables him to effectively control first-level defenders. Moving forward, Levi should concentrate on improving his explosiveness during the offseason, as this will help him finish more blocks. He is an underrated player who makes a significant impact on his team.      Dereon is a highly versatile offensive lineman hailing from Southern High School in Louisville, where he has developed a reputation for his impressive play on the field. In his junior film, he highlights his ability to adapt and excel in various roles, showcasing clips of him playing both inside at guard and on the edge as a tackle. This ability makes him a valuable asset for any team, as he can effectively fill multiple positions along the offensive line. What stands out in Dereon's film is not only his technical skills but also his athleticism. He demonstrates quick footwork and agility, particularly when executing screens. Dereon is poised for a big off season.      [player_tooltip player_id='1137665' first='Eastin' last='Ervin'] is an impressive offensive lineman in the class of 2027. While his skill set is still developing, he displays great foundational skills for his age. His sophomore film showcases good footwork, effective punch, and strong pad level. I particularly appreciate how, once he gets into position, he continues driving his legs and never gives up on a block. If I were a South Warren running back, I would definitely seek out Eastin and follow him to the end zone!      [player_tooltip player_id='1610655' first='Sean' last='Hurry'] is an explosive pass rusher from Newport High School in Northern Kentucky. During the 2024 season, he had impressive statistics that made him a nightmare for offensive linemen and coaches on Friday nights. He recorded 74 total tackles, including 24 tackles for loss and 9 sacks. Sean uses his length and quick first step to wreak havoc on opposing offenses, and his ability to dip and rip helps him shorten the edge, making it difficult for blockers to contain him. He checks all the boxes to be a high-profile recruit for college coaches.      [player_tooltip player_id='1217856' first='Aberian' last='Dean'] is a strong offensive and defensive lineman from Tates Creek High School in Lexington. On offense, he excels at displacing defensive linemen during double-team situations and effectively transitioning to block linebackers when necessary. Aberian is also an elite puller; when he pulls on counter and power plays, he creates significant collisions at the point of attack. Although his pad level tends to be high, his strength allows him to overcome this issue. However, improving his pad level would help Aberian elevate his game to the next level.
