The offense for Le Mars took significant steps forward in 2024 thanks to the quick development of their first-year starting QB [player_tooltip player_id='1240466' first='Jami' last='Sitzmann']. Sitzmann finished with 1331 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions, while adding 306 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Sitzmann is one of the most impressive improvisers in the Iowa high school football scene, being elusive and difficult to take down even when swarmed by defenders, doing a great job keeping his eyes down the field, and showing great touch and accuracy on the run, and contributing to the Bulldogs' effective run-game. Le Mars will have big potential to rock Class 4A next season with Sitzmann under Center.

Taking over the starting QB position after the departure of Iowa State commit Aiden Flora was a difficult task, but [player_tooltip player_id='1619815' first='Hudson' last='Shull'] did an excellent job in filling in the role as the dynamic dual-threat QB to lead the Tigers' offense. Shull finished with 1363 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 8 picks. He also ran for 1168 yards and his 18 rushing touchdowns were the most among all Class 4A players last season. Shull is elusive, agile, and runs with the vision and finesse of a great RB, and he uses that mobility to find his receivers down the field, further making things difficult for the defense. Shull is a perfect fit for ADM's offense. If Shull can improve more on his accuracy next season, Shull could distinguish himself as a QB that could truly translate his skillset to the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1242954' first='Conlan' last='Poynton'] emerged almost out of nowhere last season to become the catalyst for Clear Creek Amana's comeback campaign as they returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Poynton finished with 1228 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and 7 picks. He ran for an additional 901 yards and 16 touchdowns. Poynton is a mobile QB that does a great job extending the play and creating big plays on the ground, but he does just as well in delivering sharp, accurate passes on the run, showing much higher accuracy rates compared to several other dual-threat QBs within the state last season. Clear Creek Amana should be considered a dark-horse contender to make a run for the Class 4A title next season with Poynton in the lineup.

Taking the reins as the starting QB for Norwalk in 2024, [player_tooltip player_id='1619680' first='James' last='Hatlevig'] fit comfortably in the Warrior's offense and delivered strong results in his first year. Hatlevig threw for 1614 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 6 picks. Hatlevig is a true pocket passer, delivering with some of the best placement, velocity, and depth on passes that I've seen all season, and he plays with calm poise, maintaining his progressions, and being able to find his receiver as the pressure gets to him. Hatlevig certainly deserves a lot more attention as one of the most underrated QB prospects in Iowa heading into the 2025 season.

After a rough debut in his sophomore campaign, [player_tooltip player_id='1619827' first='Jude' last='Baumgardner'] made several strides in his development as a passer last season. Baumgardner finished with 1327 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and 7 picks. He also ran for 205 yards and 7 touchdowns. Baumgardner tends to throw a lot on the run, and he's shown to be accurate with his throws even in difficult positions. Baumgardner's arm strength and deep throw ability shouldn't be ignored either, and I was impressed with several of his 1-on-1 throws that he hit throughout the season that showed his ability to really stretch the field. Baumgardner will look to bring Boone back to the playoffs in 2025.

After starting QB [player_tooltip player_id='1418132' first='Andrew' last='DeWall'] was switched to OLB in 2024, this paved the way for [player_tooltip player_id='1240469' first='Asher' last='Brueck'] to start last season. Brueck enjoyed a solid first year as a starter, throwing for 1326 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 7 picks, while adding 3 touchdowns on the ground. Asher comes from a football family, which included his older brother Bennett having been the starting QB a few years ago. Asher had his shares of ups and downs, but his ups showcase a high ceiling for his potential with outstanding arm strength and accuracy on the run. Brueck will be one of the biggest names to watch out for in a prove-it campaign in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1619687' first='Caden' last='Klein'] wasn't the best passer last season, but he showed impressive big-play potential throughout the entire season. Klein finished with 1445 passing yards, 8 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. He also ran for 1126 yards and 14 touchdowns. Klein is undoubtedly effective on the ground, proving dangerous as an open field runner. Klein has room to improve on his accuracy, but he proved that he could really stretch the ball down the field with his arm strength, which opened up explosive plays down the field. Klein will be an interesting name to watch as the core piece of Newton's offense.
