The 2025 Prep Redzone 7v7 Circuit kicked off in north Texas with the second annual Lonestar State Showdown. It was a great weekend of football in Frisco and we'll have a ton of content dropping, looking at some of the best players that stood out. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at CG3 Takeover and their 18U squad. This was a program that really dominated our Lonestar State Showdown last year in The Woodlands, winning the 14U and 15U championships. And there were a lot of familiar faces on this 18U team that are also featured in this breakdown. Below, we take a look at four of their players that stood out during the weekend. Keep it locked into Prep Redzone for more coverage of this weekend's Lonestar State Showdown!

Brandon BrownJr. - 2026 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

The last time we saw 2026 wide receiver and cornerback Brandon BrownJr. in person, he was one of our top performers at the 2024 tournament. Since then, he's become one of the hotter 2026 prospects in Texas and really has his momentum going with offers from all over the country. It was good to catch up with Brown following the games on Saturday but on the field, he was still that terrorizing playmaker that defenses needed to know where he was at all times. CG3 Takeover had a few playmakers all over the field this weekend so Brown didn't have to put on his Superman cape but he still produced at a high level. When we look at Brown and his game from this past weekend compared to where he was at this time last year, there is no doubt that he is one of the more underrated playmakers in the state's 2026 class. But colleges are definitely taking notice of his skillset.

Jamal Polite Jr. - 2026 Defensive Back

2026 defensive back Jamal Polite Jr. was another player that we had high praise of in last year's tournament. Polite would end up being the MVP of the 15U championship game. And looking back at some of our notes from last year, Polite was a standout on both sides of the ball. And while he might still have that ability to be a two-way problem, he really performed well on the defensive side of the ball and specifically on Sunday. During their run in bracket play, it was like a switch flipped with CG3 Takeover because their secondary became a "No Fly Zone" and that's a big problem for opponents in a 7v7 setting. Simply put, they were picking off everything and Polite came up big in that department. There were a few games where he acted as their "centerfielder" in the secondary. Just a patrolling safety ready to make his move on the ball.

Naythan Smith - 2028 Wide Receiver

2028 wide receiver Naythan Smith is the third player from CG3 Takeover that performed really well at our Lonestar State Showdown last year in The Woodlands. Smith was apart of the 14U team that would win the championship and he was Co-MVP of the championship game with their quarterback. Smith was incredibly reliable last year at the wide receiver position and as just a freshman, Smith showed that he could still play at that high level. We got a chance to watch CG3 Takeover for a few games on Saturday and then again for several games on Sunday as they made their run in bracket play. For me, it looked like Smith elevated his game on Sunday when it mattered the most and it was win or go home. Smith performed very well on Sunday as they were matched up with some very talented teams and the 2028 prospect held his own.

[player_tooltip player_id='1651082' first='Prince' last='Hall'] - 2026 Wide Receiver

Three out of the four names on this breakdown were familiar ones but [player_tooltip player_id='1651082' first='Prince' last='Hall'] was a new name for us to check out. Hall didn't play with CG3 last year but he was one of their top wide receivers this weekend in Frisco. And Saturday in particular was a big day for Hall as he dominated the first day of the tournament and that came a few hours after receiving his first D1 offer from Sacramento State. Hall is a long wide receiver that made a lot of tough catches over the middle. He has the frame to be a match-up nightmare for opponents and he also showed the speed to beat defenders on a simple go route and take advantage of his size. But we liked the fact that he was going over the middle and catching passes in traffic and showcasing some of the best hands that we saw throughout the two days in Frisco this past weekend.
