Lavalais aggressively pursues running plays and demonstrates good read-and-react skills, staying square while filling gaps to make tackles at the LOS or in the backfield. He possesses the foot speed and angles needed to effectively chase down ball carriers. In coverage, Lavalais shows solid lateral agility, change of direction, and burst, allowing him to position himself to make plays on the football.
