On the middle school level often times the best athletes are moved around to whatever position will help the team win, not necessarily which position is best for the athlete. The guys below each played multiple positions during the 2024 season, but a possible move to Tight End could end up being the right move as they progress to high school. Take a look.

At times Clem looked like a man amongst boys on the field this year for Westwood Middle School, as they were crowned the Duck River Valley Conference (DRVC) Champions in 2024. He played all over the place for the Rockets including Kicker and Running Back this season, en route to being named the Overall Team MVP. Based off his size, athleticism and ability to create with the ball in his hands, a move to Tight End full time may end up being fruitful.

A dual-sport athlete that sticks out on film pretty quickly because of his size and build. Also a hooper, he lined up as a Wide Receiver offensively and as an Edge/Outside Linebacker on defense and more than looked the part with his frame. Finished this season as one of four Jackson Christian School Eagles selected to participate in the West Tennessee 8th Grade All-Star Game.

Fast, athletic and reliable are all descriptors of [player_tooltip player_id='1614247' first='Mason' last='Bonner'] on the football field. Like others in this write up, he lined up at multiple positions offensively this year including Wide Receiver, Running Back and Tight End for the Williamson Middles Schools Athletic Association (WMAA) Champions, Legacy Middle School. Additionally, he wrestled 185 this year and went undefeated in his conference.

In 2024 White was a can't-miss member of the Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) Lions, lining up as a Running Back/H-Back/Tight End and Linebacker. The three-sport athlete was a very versatile piece of the offense and routinely showed off his soft hands, pretty good speed and ability to turn upfield and create after the catch. At his size, he was/is a load to bring down in open field and was an obvious selection for the West Tennessee 8th Grade All-Star Game.

As I said when I first wrote about him back in October, Thearp is yet to formally play the Tight End position, but he looks like he could walk onto many Varsity programs in the state and become the starter at the position. At 6-foot-3 and now up to 180-pounds, with a ton of length, he looks ideal for the position. He scored 11 touchdowns in the 2024 season, but they came from the Quarterback and Wide Receiver positions. Followed up his football season with an outstanding basketball season, which saw the JFK prospect earn several All-Star game selections.
