Looking for lockdown corners or maybe ball-hawking safeties? Yup, we got em! Today, I'm looking at a few rising sophomore defensive backs who impressed during their freshman season. It's a mixture of guys who competed at the varsity levels and lower levels. Each one stood out on film, and I believe could see their stock rise this offseason and beyond. With three seasons of varsity football left, I'm sure college coaches will be keeping an eye on them.

[player_tooltip player_id='1611938' first='Juan' last='Hernandez'] 6" 160, North Shore

Juan has exceptional ball skills, he can climb the ladder to high point the football and shows impressive instincts. He stays over the top of receivers in zone coverage; he can overlap over the number two receiver when need be and is a physical tackler when asked to come up in run support. He's a playmaker who can make an impact on his team in a multitude of ways.

Cameron Williams, 5'9" 160, Whitehouse

Williams is a natural at reading route concepts & breaking on the football, he's tough, dependable, and plays with the utmost confidence. He's got excellent recovery speed, he plays through the receiver's hands if not in phase, and does a good job eating up short-intermediate routes. He's also an explosive kick returner, with vision, balance, and burst. This kid was so reliable as a freshman on varsity and I think he could become a lockdown-type corner in the very near future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1618111' first='Brandon' last='Derrough-Harris'], 5'11" 150, Royse City

Brandon is dynamic when he gets his hands on the football, whether that be via interceptions or kick returns, and can take it the other way to the house. He's got great anticipation at corner, he has the confidence to jump in front of a route, and will stick a ball carrier in his tracks in run support. He's got the quickness and strength to fight off perimeter blocks, he's got a nose for the football, and can come to balance & make plays in space.

Adrian Taylor, 5'10" 175, J. Frank Dobie

Adrian can come down his stem & run the alley, he does a good job rolling his hips and speeding his feet on contact. He plays a lot bigger than his listed height, he can add value as a kick coverage team member, and is someone who will fight till the final horn sounds.
