Winning Not An Option At Oviedo

Before the start of the 2024 season, there was a feeling around the Oviedo football program that it would be a special year.
Starting out 6-1, head coach Greg Odierno and his Lions kept their collective eyes on the prize of winning the District 4-6A title, which they did, but in the opening round of the state playoffs, they dropped a contest to Pace, ending what was expected to be a lengthy run.
That loss did not sit well with a team that had worked hard last off-season with a strong senior class and plenty of leadership.
As this off-season started the same focus surrounded the returning players and coaches.
This program has indeed raised the bar and no longer is winning a district title and reaching the state playoffs a goal.
What these players and coaches will be after in 2025 is much more – and with a strong rising senior (2026) class, it could easily become a reality.
Here is a look at some of those 2026 prospects to keep an eye on:
