DELAND, Fla. – When some of the best high school football players in the nation get together on one field, a lot of things happen – and most are positive.
Three of Team Icon's most dynamic playmakers scored touchdowns early in the first half, setting the tone in its 31-19 victory over Team Unstoppable in the 17th annual Under Armour Next All-America Football Game on Thursday night in front of an ESPN2 national television audience and a pumped-up crowd at Spec Martin Stadium.
Dakorien Moore earned MVP honors after making his mark early in the contest. The Oregon signee opened the scoring with an 83-yard punt return for a touchdown, the third-longest punt return and punt return for touchdown the game's history, to give Team Icon an early 6-0 lead. All told, Moore finished with 136 all-purpose yards, the eighth most all time.
Team Unstoppable quickly responded. [player_tooltip player_id='1206198' first='Naeem' last='Burroughs'], one of the top wide receiver prospects in the Class of 2026 from Jacksonville Bolles, answered with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Maryland pledge Malik Washington, giving Team Unstoppable an 8-6 lead after a successful two-point conversion.
Team Icon scored twice more in the ensuing minutes to take control of the game. Ohio State signee Anthony Rogers punched it in from five yards out, allowing Team Icon to retake a 14-8 lead with just under four minutes to go in the first quarter. University of Florida pledge [player_tooltip player_id='826485' first='Naeshaun' last='Montgomery'], who played this past season at Miami Central, helped extend the Team Icon lead with a five-yard touchdown reception from Alabama signee Keelon Russell to make the score 22-8 early in the second quarter.
Team Unstoppable rallied for a touchdown on its next possession with K.J. Lacey, a Texas commit, scampering for a nine-yard touchdown. A two-point conversion made the score 22-16 at halftime. The second half belonged to the specialists as Team Icon kicker Scott Starzyk, an Arkansas commit, converted all three of his field goal attempts while Dominic De Freitas made his only attempt to make up the remainder of the game's scoring.
Throughout the game, four players announced their college commitments. Class of 2025 wide receiver Donovan Murph pledged his commitment to South Carolina prior to kick off before three players from the Class of 2026 revealed their college intentions. Defensive back James Dunnigan announced his plans to attend Kansas, wide receiver Carnell Warren wore a Virginia Tech cap during halftime and defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy committed to LSU.
