With much of the event's groundwork already laid, it is time to discuss who-I-saw-do-what while at the Northeast Middle School Camp. Below are personal scouting notes from the action I witnessed.

Scout's Notes: Offensive Linemen

I got a solid look at [player_tooltip player_id='1539474' first='Colton' last='Martin'] during the indy block. There I witnessed him take very good short, choppy steps necessary to move people off the line of scrimmage. I felt, however, that Martin would benefit from having more balance in his stance - which could be a tell on film. When pulling he got to the point of attack well and must continue to finish through contact. Martin would benefit from ladder drills to improve his slight of foot. Doing so will help him secure the edge and better equip him to stay in front of pass rushers... Where Martin works to secure the edge, [player_tooltip player_id='610067' first='Brody' last='Edelman'] works to secure the inside. Edelman gave a valiant effort, all afternoon long. Akin to Martin, improving slight of foot will support Edelman's development and ascension.

There was no lineman, neither offensive nor defense, more refined than [player_tooltip player_id='1571068' first='Adrian' last='Tirado']. First and foremost, Tirado had a good deal of balance in his stance. This allowed him to move in any direction with ease. When pass setting, Tirado bench pressed defenders well, keeping them at bay. Perhaps what impressed me the most about Tirado's game was his ability to move laterally. This resonated when he effectively stonewalled a wide-9 technique. Moreover, he did this while maintaining a very good base without compromise.

Scout's Notes: Defensive Linemen

While some say shake what ya mama gave ya, [player_tooltip player_id='1590698' first='Edward' last='Mitchell'] III uses what his father gave him. Although he was not the biggest defensive lineman, Mitchell had an uncanny ability to use the length of his body very well. He did this to set up moves and beat his matchup to spots on a consistent basis. Mitchell also showed that he can finish, doing so with a very good rip move. As he progresses I want to see Mitchell better feel his opponent's leverage and weaponize it against them.... Perhaps the one prospect along the defensive line that used his hands the best was [player_tooltip player_id='1590287' first='Jasiah' last='Dennis']. I watched Dennis get home with a beautiful upward swipe. He compounded this move with an outstanding dip under and around to get home to the quarterback. I just realized, literally I was writing this, Dennis is a 2031 graduate currently in the 6th grade. That said, he is advanced well beyond his years in terms of hand utilization - effectively using them better than most high schoolers.
