Let these numbers sink in for a minute.

Over the past five seasons, Hawthorne High and head football coach Cornelius Ingram and his staff have posted a 55-6 record with two state titles and a 27-game winning streak.

When the Hornets were beaten on Dec. 6 in the Rural Championship game against Madison County, 21-14, it ended the best three-year run in school history.

That loss, coupled with an unexpected 41-28 setback to Tallahassee Florida High earlier in the season, were just two of the three setbacks that this senior class suffered during their entire career.

As several key prospects will move on to the next level, no tears need to be shed for this program.

While replacing the most productive group of athletes will indeed be tough, those seniors not only will leave a legacy as winners, but also as leaders who guided the way for the younger student/athletes to follow.

While we know that there will be several new faces that will join this program in the off-season.

TRACKING THE RISING SENIOR (2026) CLASS

As one group of leaders move on, the next list of seniors is ready to step up.

Among those players include Jordan Asante (LB/RB), Darian Bowie (WR/CB), Kamari DeBose (CB), Delvis Eason (DT/TE – 3.7 GPA), Tellis Harris Jr. (OL), [player_tooltip player_id='1403740' first='Kyler' last='Ingram'] (DT/LB – 4.0 GPA), and standout Loniki “L.J.” Jackson (RB/LB – 3.0 GPA).

CLASS OF 2027 SETS THE TONE FOR THE FUTURE

As the rising senior class will step up for that leadership, look for classes, such as 2027 (rising juniors) to also make an impact in 2025.

Prospects like Messiah Gent (OLB/TE – 3.0 GPA), Nathan Jennings (CB), Karsis Mency (OT), [player_tooltip player_id='1715876' first='Travis' last='Pete'] (DB), and Demeion Rutledge (DL) are set to keep things rolling.

Class of 2028 prospects Derryek Gillins (RB/LB – 3.7 GPA), Kevin Golden (DB), Richard Roundtree (QB – 3.9 GPA), Jayden Starke (WR), and Willie Sutton (WR/S) are talented. So is rising freshman (2029) offensive lineman Micah Williams.
