Defensively, this enables him to quickly shed blockers to make a play at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. He demonstrated a good upfield burst, along with good foot quickness and the bend to beat offensive tackles off the edge, effectively utilizing his speed rush. In the interior, Phillips displayed good pad level, hand placement, and technique to shed blocks quickly, allowing him to make plays in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage. He displays a solid upfield burst, hand placement, and lower body power, which he uses to execute his bull rush, creating pressure or making plays in the backfield. This combination allows him to generate pressure or quickly shed blockers to make plays at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield.
