Between the recent update and the in-state recruiting buzz, the Class of '26 has been the talk of the town in the Sunflower State. The current junior class will continue to be the topic of discussion in this report.

Before our staff prepares to roll out the next wave of rankings, I thought it'd be nice to share some bonus coverage from the recent update. This first part of the bonus coverage will focus on five defensive backs that made their debuts inside the Top 150. They each were headaches for opposing quarterbacks in 2024, and should be once again during the '25 campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='1599286' first='Cole' last='Ramey'] – Neodesha, 5'11”, 165

Ramey of Neodesha came away with the highest debut from the group. He cracked the rankings at No. 114 overall and is the 12th ranked defensive back in the class. The '24 campaign was a breakout season for Ramey as he not only shined in the secondary, but on offense as well. As a defensive back he set career highs in tackles and interceptions with over 30 total tackles and five picks on the season. Offensively he accumulated over 650 yards and scored six touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545224' first='Wyatt' last='Newberry'] – Sterling, 5'11”, 160

Newberry has consistently improved throughout his career, and his progress was on full display during his junior season. Much like Ramey, Newberry was also very impactful as a two-way starter in 2024. At safety he recorded 110 total tackles along with three interceptions and seven pass breakups. On offense he contributed over 700 yards and seven scores on the ground. He entered the rankings just two spots behind Ramey at No. 116 overall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598868' first='Leighton' last='Boldridge'] – Atchison, 6'1”, 190

This next prospect was one of the more physically gifted athletes added in the recent update. Boldridge of Athcison had a nice season as a defensive back; posting 23 total tackles and five interceptions. But his impact went beyond the secondary. Which is why he was recognized as a 1st Team All-League selection as an athlete. He should be one of the top players out of the Meadowlark Conference once again next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1556333' first='Anthony' last='Schremmer'] – Colgan, 5'9”, 160

Schremmer is the second DB in this report that was first discovered during the Game Ball series this past fall. He debuted behind Boldridge at No. 118 overall after putting together a 2nd Team All-League season. During his junior campaign, Schremmer piled up 53 total tackles and five interceptions. He was one of a few DB's in the junior class that had two multi-interception games in 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='1516005' first='Tramel' last='Walker'] – Hutchison, 5'10”, 160

Walker of Hutchison caps off this group of new DB's. He may be fifth in this report but he's not too far behind the rest of the pack, as he debuted at No. 125 overall and is the 17th ranked defensive back in the class. Walker earned a starting job during his junior season and proved to be a reliable piece to the Salthawks' secondary. The junior received All-League honors after recording 29 total tackles, two interceptions, and four pass breakups.
