He signed with the hometown Idaho State during the first national signing day, and is a big time get for the Bengals. Salas has the ideal size and length for the tackle position with long arms, strong hands and quick feet when setting in pass protection or moving in space. He snaps out of his stance, gets inside placement quickly and is a striker that can create vertical push and finishes downfield. He was a no-brainer to enter into our rankings and get slotted just inside the top 15 of his position and well inside the top 100 overall across Idaho. In the run game he is a strong and powerful puncher that bends well for his size and is explosive out of his stance while creating immediate vertical displacement. He shows patient hands and pass protection and does not lunge and can seemingly win easily against both speed and power rushers. He is a powerful blocker that wins with leverage and a strong initial punch at the point of attack while showing he can combo to the second level and pull in space when needed without taking false steps. He has a powerful lower body and can move defenders off the ball in his first two steps and will only continue to improve upon his pass protection as he grows and develops. He is another athletic tackle prospect that will most likely kick inside at the next level and is extremely athletic for his size, moves well and has fluid feet in space. He is another prospect that moves well for his size and is extremely powerful at the point of attack and can quickly create vertical push. He has a solid frame, long arms and is a no brainer D3+ player at the college level that should be a steal down the stretch here. Herrera shows he can block at the first and second level comfortably, pull when needed and shows the ability to finish blocks downfield with nasty intentions.
