Uncovered Gems #6 - OK Red Offense #1

Even though I dove deep into the OK Red last summer, there are still a TON of unknown prospects to watch, especially after the 2024 season. In the next week, I'll be evaluating over 40 players from the OK Conference.   Here are evaluations for six new offensive players! Included players are from Grand Haven, Jenison, Grandville, Hudsonville, and East Kentwood!    Carson has some solid junior year highlights. Mostly repping at left guard, his highlights prove a decently well-rounded game when it comes to run blocking.   His tape kicks off with an outside pull, where he then quickly finds a DB and pancakes him. At 0:27, Carson has a solid pass block rep. Throughout the entire tape, it's clear that Carson has good physicality and is agile enough to pull. Though, there are a few areas I'd love to see improvement.   First, Carson would improve a ton with some extra speed. Too often, Carson gets out of his stance a little too slow and sometimes delays the developing play. Second, he looks unbalanced during blocks. Pretty often, Carson leans, has sloppy footwork, and would probably be beaten by a solid push-pull move. Still, with his size, Carson could be a college prospect. I'd love to see him at offseason camps, and he could be a D3 prospect if he really balls out.      Brody shows on tape exactly what I saw during his game against Grand Haven.   Turn on the first minute of his tape, and you'll see that Brody is a developing power RB with good strength, contact balance, and speed. At 0:19 (against an elite defense), Brody powers through a tackle, does a great job keeping his balance, and picks up a tough 1st-down. At 0:57, Brody breaks a few arm tackles, gets to the sideline, and scores a TD.   This is going to be a bit of a backhanded compliment, but Brody has incredible production for his current athletic ability. Love the contact balance, power, and overall effort, but I can only imagine the heights he'd be able to reach with improved athleticism. Hit the weight room, do more speed training, and Brody could be a good college football player!      Any Power T offense needs several great running backs. Considering Grandville's success late in the season, guys like Darrione really showed up to play.   Plus, Darrione's tape is very promising! Let's start off at 1:21- once Darrione reaches the second level, he's able to avoid a defender, jukes another, and eventually goes down for a massive gain. That play, in particular, showcases Darrione's open-field athleticism. Although the juke didn't work perfectly, and he was a little indecisive about where he wanted to go, his speed and overall athleticism prove to be solid.   Several other times, Darrione takes inside handoffs, explodes through the hole, and gets a huge gain.   I think that the #1 area that Darrione could improve on is his contact balance. With his current athletic ability, I could only imagine the production he'd have with a little more physicality and balance. Hit the weight room, practice being more physical, practice balance!      Braylon was someone that I included in last summer's Hudl Discoveries series, and I'm excited to be watching his brand-new junior season tape.   His tape kicks off with something I highlighted as a strength of his over the summer: out routes. The first play shows a solid 10-yard out and great timing by the QB to get that ball in there. I will say that I'd like Braylon to get out of his break a step faster, but at the High School level, that's a good route. At 0:28, Braylon takes the screen pass, and does a good job of immediately working upfield (I watch so many receivers waste time in these situations. Braylon attempts to hit the hole, but his teammate fails the block and the DB makes a solid tackle. Solid play, good speed, and all I'd improve there is better contact balance.   The last play I'll mention is at 1:03. Braylon takes the jet sweep and immediately runs into the teeth of the defense. The blockers were far too slow for the developing play, so, even if the play was designed for Braylon to cut inside, I would much rather he attempt to find the edge and work the open space.   A ton of improvement from last year to this year. Great production. But still a lot to improve. I could easily see Braylon being a D3 prospect this spring if he has good camp performances!      A solid season at WR for [player_tooltip player_id='1613653' first='Collin' last='Munford'], but he's still a very raw player.   The tape kicks off with a pretty impressive touchdown on the reverse: solid speed plus vision. Though Collin holds the ball in the wrong arm and definitely didn't show the 4.5 40 tape as he advertises. Next, at 1:13, Collin catches the ball on a short slant. Solid job bringing in the catch, but the route was extremely lazy.   I see the potential. Collin is a solid athlete and has some legit highlights. However, he needs to display much better play speed and attention to detail moving forward.      Although his tape is short, I really like a few of these highlights and think Kinyonn has a chance to be an incredible player next season. His tape begins with a super-clean 10-yard out with great timing from his QB. As a bonus, Kinyonn does his best to stay in bounds and earn a few extra yards. At 0:16, he has another great out route from lining up as an in-line TE, leading to a touchdown. At 0:33, he executes a solid, but not great block.   Overall, Kinyonn looks like a very athletic, very high-upside receiver. Already has good speed and route-running, which is amazing. Keep going in the weight room, become more physical, work on blocking, and Kinyonn will be an all-region player.
