With much of the event's groundwork already laid, it is time to discuss who-I-saw-do-what while at Sunday's Stock Up Showcase. Below are personal scouting notes from the action I witnessed.

Scout's Notes: Defensive Linemen

They do not call him "King" for nothing. My New York counterpart Caleb Holfoth talked a big game about [player_tooltip player_id='505858' first='King-Micah' last='Mercer'] and he was not lying. During indy Mercer showed the raw athleticism. When running the loop he demonstrated the rare ability to dip his shoulder, bend low, and grab grass - all the while without losing a bit of speed or pad level. This ability to dip and bend later manifested during the 1-on-1 period. Merciless against his matchup, Mercer showed that he can threaten with his speed go open up the inside, hit the inside with a spin, and also that he knows how-and-when to use his violent hands.... Recognizing the white of an offensive lineman's fingers and a forward lean is key to taking advantage of over-anxious foes. This is what [player_tooltip player_id='939515' first='Arthur' last='Swinton'] picked up on as he watched rep after rep. I initially picked this up one point with the same player he did, but Swinton eventually recognized that his interior line matchup was lunging. As a result, he snatched him down and swam over him for an easy sack.

[player_tooltip player_id='1575806' first='Matthew' last='Arias'] showed the dual-ability to rush the passer both off the edge and from within the interior. Thinking that his speed was better than that of his matchup, Arias set up his inside slant by consistently winning off the edge. Later on he bumped down to the interior where he won a big matchup against the center. In that rep I saw Arias execute a textbook rip across his face that drew a hold. Arias might have even got his shirt ripped due to the hold on that spin.... There were few prospects larger than [player_tooltip player_id='1571994' first='Anthony' last='Gerald'] in attendance. Gerald took that to heart, as he wore it as a badge of pride in every rep I saw him take. What I saw was a prospect who takes pride in his physicality, applying that the best he could to a shorts and shirt camp. Furthermore, Gerald appears to have very powerful feet, anchoring him with each and every step he took.
