PRZNJ Stock Up Showcase: 4 Defensive Prospects I'm Pumped to See

<p>The offseason is here and event season as begun! Moreover, camp season has started. Prep Redzone kicks off the offseason camp circuit with our Stock Up Showcase Tour. At this event seniors will have one of their last opportunities to perform in front of college coaches and underclassmen begin their pursuit of excellence. </p>   <p>Below are a few attendees that I am looking forward to seeing perform. </p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Few things I enjoy watching more than a big-bodied, interior defensive lineman that bullies people. Let me introduce you to [player_tooltip player_id='1571994' first='Anthony' last='Gerald']. We see Gerald patrol between the guards for Colonia's front. The best thing from I caught from the little bit of film that I watched was how he gets hands on the man in front of him. Yes, it is cliché, but he does an exceptional job at this, particularly when linemen are trying to climb to the defense's second level - he vows to prevent them from getting free releases. We see him utilize the swim move to get into the backfield, disrupt plays, and make tackles. More than many players his size, Gerald does an outstanding job of maintaining a motor that allows him to make more takcles than you would expect in pursuit of the ball. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://mobile.x.com/AnthonyIGerald/status/1856185305096958321 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Although it appears that [player_tooltip player_id='1571996' first='Tyler' last='Zysk'] only played freshman ball last year at Hillsborough, his tape is very encouraging in what I would consider a natural mike backer. Zysk reads his keys very clearly and does not hesitate getting to the ball carrier. By and large the 2028 graduate takes very good angles to take down the runner. Well coached, we see Zysk take his diagnose steps to play the run and then take his drop. An excellent tackler, you can tell Zysk has been playing ball for a long time the way he leverages the Gator Roll tackling technique. Pursuit angles are a strong suit of his; however, more impressively he can quickly course-correct his path should he underestimate the speed of his opponent. Lastly, Zysk has some speed and can beat a runner to the sideline. The Raider's run defense appears set for the next several seasons. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/zysk_tyler/status/1860095558683361678 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Like Hillsborough's Zysk, [player_tooltip player_id='1236608' first='Jason' last='Louis'] is also a freshman; different from Zysk, Rahway's defensive back got major run on varsity. As a cornerback Louis does a very nice job in run support. I do not recall him giving up his force responsibility on the tape that I watched. In the same breath Louis tackles very low, making his clutches difficult to escape. He comes to balance very nicely as things fast approach him as well.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/jasonlouis09/status/1862227596622106744 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Returning to Voorhees for one last run is defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1284784' first='Logan' last='Direny']. Direny had a very strong sophomore campaign that set high expectations for him. We see that on tape he does a nice job following the quarterback's eyes as they roll out, rolling his coverage to that side. Similarly, Direny gets excellent breaks on the ball when it is thrown, dislodging the ball and breaking up the pass attempt with his body. At his best we see him explode down hill when doing this and can make an old-school stick tackle in the process.
