This is a bittersweet moment as the Prep Redzone Iowa crew did the final update to the Class of 2025 rankings. Seeing some of these big names leave us on Friday nights will be tough, but we are more than excited to start following their careers on Saturdays. There was a lot of movement in the rankings that saw stars establish themselves as elite prospects, players step into starting roles, and some that made huge advances in their development from junior to senior year. Several prospects have already named their home for the next four years, but there are still hundreds of uncommitted prospects that could help bolster your squad. Check out these uncommitted seniors who made big gains in the recent update!

MOC-Floyd Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='773212' first='Ahman' last='Langton'] has emerged as one of his class's more versatile and consistent athletes and remains on the board. Ahman ended his senior campaign with 45 receptions for 647 yards and nine touchdowns as the Dutchmen's leading receiver. Langton was also a key player on defense, where he recorded 12.5 tackles, a fumble recovery, and a pick-six while providing top-tier coverage as a CB. Langton has a ton of upside on both sides of the ball but projects best as a receiver at the next level. He is a very skilled route runner who starts off by being able to get a clean release at the line of scrimmage and can stem or attack the defender's leverage to create separation, with solid explosiveness at the top of the route. He has a lengthy reach that helps him maximize his catch radius and make receptions outside of his frame. Langton has displays nice burst after the catch that allows him to tack on extra yardage. On the defensive side, Ahman looks very fluid when engaged in coverage and has the ball skills to make big plays. Ahman holds offers from Concordia-St. Paul, Sioux Falls, Grand View, and a PWO from South Dakota.

North Scott's Chase Smith is a player we had tabbed in the preseason to have a breakout year after flashing as a backup last season, and he blew those expectations out of the water. Smith had a highly efficient senior season in which he led the Lancers to the state semifinals. His end-of-season stat line was very impressive with 175/260 completions (67.3%), 2,362 passing yards, 28 touchdowns (3 Ints), and a QBR of 176.8 while also adding 280 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Smith is a very talented passer with the arm to make every throw to all levels of the field. He can fire off a missile accurately and quickly when looking to fit the ball into tight windows and on short/intermediate throws. Chase can also throw with touch as he lofts deep balls that land right into his receiver's hands. He also seems to have all the tools upstairs with great football IQ, the ability to read defenses, and quick eyes that allow him to move through his progressions. Very much a threat on the ground with a reported 4.41 40-yard dash, 4.19 shuttle drills, 33" vertical jump, 10' broad jump, and some state track hardware to back it up. Teams have started to pick up on Chase and his upside with recent D1 offers from Charleston Southern, Marist College, and Murray State while also receiving bids from Davenport, Southwest Baptist, Minnesota State-Moorhead, and Grand View!

North Polk senior [player_tooltip player_id='1361539' first='Jakob' last='Phillips'] could be a massive steal for any team looking for a playmaking linebacker with championship pedigree. Jakob played a key role in the Comet's undefeated championship season as he contributed 75.5 tackles, 15 TFLs, three interceptions (one pick-six), and a kickoff return for a touchdown. Jakob is a player with "first off the bus" size and a strong 6'1" 210-pound frame packed with explosiveness. Phillips is very well-rounded as a linebacker with the coverage, run defense, and pass-rush skills to make plays regardless of the assignment. He is very disruptive at the line of scrimmage with active hands, the strength to move blockers off their spots, and a motor that doesn't stop. Watching the tape, I was also impressed with Jakob's ability to play different roles on defense, showing that he could even play as an S/OLB hybrid at the next level. Great tackler with the ability to drop ball carriers in open space. I know his upside is highest on defense, but man, did Jakob have some impressive receptions/plays on the offensive side of the ball. Phillips is currently awaiting his first offer, which I think should come sooner rather than later!

Here's another state champion who played a big part in their team's monster season. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1286440' first='Tom' last='Scherr'] is an exciting prospect with the upside and talent to play nearly anywhere on the field. He was the Golden Eagle's leading receiver with 598 yards (25 catches & 9 TDs), second in rushing with 637 yards (59 carries & 11 TDs), and posted 56.5 tackles, 10 TFLs, three sacks, a fumble recovery, two interceptions (one pick-six), two punt returns for TDs, and a kickoff return for a touchdown. Scherr's athleticism doesn't end on the gridiron as he also reports a 4.53 40-yard dash, 4.08 shuttle, 34" vertical, and ran an 11.2 100m dash. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what position Scherr would play in college, but his potential as a receiver can't be overlooked. He has the size to matchup nicely against any defender and can use his hops and strength to win 50/50 balls heading his way. On the defensive side, Scherr is a very moldable defender who can rush the QB, defend the run, and drop into coverage. He has the range to cover from sideline to sideline with the speed to close quickly on the ball carrier. Missouri Southern is the first team to extend an offer to the Golden Eagle's prospect. Overall, just get this guy on the field and let him do his thing!

DCG's [player_tooltip player_id='1418155' first='Cayden' last='Mayfield'] received a nice bump in the rankings after a standout senior season. Cayden is a player whose stats don't tell the entire story, as quarterbacks soon found they would have little success throwing his way. He recorded 23 tackles and a TFL while displaying his aggressive ball skills with 12 pass breakups. Cayden has the taller, lengthier frame you are starting to see take over the cornerback spot with a 6'2", 175-pound frame with room to continue adding size. On top of having projectable size, Mayfield looks very natural in coverage, displaying good footwork, fluid hips, eye discipline, sharp change of direction, and is aggressive at the catch point. His instincts and football IQ allow him to recognize plays immediately, and he is able to break on the ball as soon as it comes out of the QB's hand. Another thing that stood out about Cayden was his willingness to be physical and make plays against the run. He does a great job fighting off his blocks on the perimeter to step up and make a stop. Cayden holds offers from Peru State, Grand View, William Penn, and Ave Maria, definitely a player to check out in these upcoming weeks!

Southeast Polk receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1279618' first='Kaden' last='Hills'] was one of the top breakout stars of the season as he stepped up big time after Iowa State signee [player_tooltip player_id='1278273' first='Sam' last='Zelenovich'] suffered a season-ending injury. Kaden and the rest of the Rams turned it up a notch when the playoffs rolled around, and the lights got brighter, accounting for 426 receiving yards and seven touchdowns during this stretch. Hills has solid size and athleticism, making him a tough receiver to contain. He does an excellent job exploding off the line and has a long stride that allows him to accelerate quickly. Hills displays the top-end speed to stress defenses vertically while still being able to win on underneath routes. I was impressed with Kaden's stop/start ability for being a bigger receiver. Projects very well as an x-receiver at the next level. Very under the radar prospect still waiting on his first offer... get after him!
