The 2024 Arkansas high school football season is complete for most, except for a couple of remaining state championship games and more. We have gone through countless hours of film and stat research and now have a solid foundation of who deserves these first annual awards. Edwards Awards. (A player is not allowed to win more than one award.)   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2024 Arkansas High School Football MVP:</h2>   <a href="https://x.com/PrepRedzoneAR/status/1863980584445333929">MVP Voting</a>    [player_tooltip player_id='202575' first='Kane' last='Archer'] is officially our first annual MVP in Arkansas High School Football. His 2024 season isn't over yet, as the team prepares for Shiloh Christian in the 6A state championship game. So far in 2024, he has completed 225 out of 274 passes (82%), accumulating 3,559 yards, 54 touchdowns, and only 1 interception. It's worth noting that he often didn't play in the second half due to the team's blowout victories. Archer has also made 63 carries for 664 yards and 6 touchdowns. We all know about [player_tooltip player_id='202575' first='Kane' last='Archer']; I've written about him multiple times in scouting reports. He is a strong-arm, pro-style quarterback with a high-level football IQ and excellent processing skills.   He demonstrates good pocket mobility, both inside and outside, allowing him to extend plays and throw accurately on the run. Within the pocket, he is agile and exhibits good hip fluidity while keeping his eyes downfield. He effectively processes blitzes and coverages before the snap and shows strong pocket awareness. He can diagnose and anticipate where the pocket may break down, enabling him to evade pressure. Very good ball placement and anticipation at all levels of the field. He can do it all. He finished second in the voting to the 4-star prospect above. Moody and Little Rock Mills are currently preparing for their semi-final matchup against Elkins. Even with their season ongoing, his impressive FRESHMAN film and stat line won him our Top Quarterback award. He currently sits with a completion rate of 73%, he has thrown for 1,882 yards, racking up 19 touchdown passes against only 4 interceptions. His arm talent, mechanics, and decision-making are impressive for a young prospect as he continues to dissect defenses. On the ground, his ability to find space and break tackles is evident in his impressive total of 1,772 rushing yards on 124 attempts. Additionally, he has found the end zone 23 times while carrying the ball. All told, Moody has accounted for an incredible 42 total touchdowns this season, which is a testament to his versatility and playmaking ability. His performance not only highlights his capabilities but also sets a strong foundation for what could be an outstanding high school career and future top prospect in the nation. His performance in 2024 was impressive enough to earn him the title of the top running back in Arkansas. While his final playoff game stats aren't included, he rushed for over 2,000 yards throughout the season. Here's his official stat line (excluding one game): 233 carries for 1,927 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also recorded 6 receptions for 117 yards.   Assan possesses a quick first step and good post-snap vision, allowing him to effectively read the defensive front and quickly locate running lanes. He demonstrates the ability to maneuver around early penetration due to his good lateral agility, change of direction, and burst. When he plants his back foot, he explodes through the hole, showcasing his impressive acceleration. With multi-cut capability, he maintains good contact balance and leg drive to break tackles and evade second-level defenders. In his first season, he excelled as a receiver, showcasing a playstyle similar to Deebo Samuel's, thanks to his background as both a running back and a wide receiver. With explosive speed, Davis made a significant impact, racking up 75 receptions for 1,163 yards and an impressive 21 touchdowns. When given the opportunity to run the ball, he also made his mark, carrying it 11 times for 181 yards.   As Greenwood heads into the 6A state championship against Shiloh Christian this week, Davis remains a key player. He is a quick and elusive receiver who can make defenders miss in open space. Additionally, his speed poses a vertical threat, while his contact balance enables him to break tackles consistently. He can line up in various positions, whether inline, out wide, or in the slot. This season, he recorded 29 receptions for 577 yards and 9 touchdowns. Martin demonstrates good foot quickness, burst, and change of direction, allowing him to create separation off his breaks and provide his quarterback with a clear target. His impressive size is complemented by strong hands, good hand-eye coordination, and balance, enabling him to make contested catches, high-point the football, and adjust mid-route. He is poised to be a consistent and dominant red zone threat and has the ability to serve as an effective run blocker, paving the way for running lanes at the next level. Goodwin's film was so impressive that statistics wouldn't have mattered. He possesses an impressive combination of power, strength—both upper and lower body—and athleticism at the tackle position, allowing him to win one-on-one battles in any situation. He demonstrates very good initial quickness off the line of scrimmage, maintaining good pad level along with strong lower body power and quick foot movement. This enables him to establish inside leverage, utilizing effective hand placement, strength, and timing to disrupt defenders, push opposing players back, or create running lanes by moving them out of gaps.   Additionally, he shows good technique in reach and zone blocks, with impressive reach and arm length. His quickness is accentuated in all pass sets as well. He maintains a very strong anchor in pass protection, showcasing control through robust lower body and core strength, as well as effective hand placement. He is also aware of potential stunts, which highlights his high football IQ. Furthermore, he can mirror defenders effectively thanks to his lateral agility, balance, and strong base. Slater dominated off the EDGE/defensive end position, consistently wreaking havoc at the line of scrimmage and in the backfield. In 2024, Slater recorded 74 tackles, including 55 solo tackles, along with 10 sacks and 4 passes defended. He demonstrated impressive quickness off the snap, utilizing his length to gain leverage and quickly shed blockers to make plays at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. His speed against offensive tackles on the edge is a significant threat, as he can rapidly beat them both inside and outside. This determination led him to rack up impressive stats, including 64 tackles (46 solo), 22 tackles for loss (TFLs), 16.5 sacks, 16 hurries, and 1 PBU in 2024. However, Sanderson and his team, Salem, still have their season ongoing as they prepare for their upcoming semi-final matchup against Mansfield.   He demonstrates a strong burst off the snap, which allows him to beat his opponents off the edge and secure sacks. Sanderson also exhibits good football IQ; he effectively sets the edge to force plays back into traffic or splits double teams to make a play at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. As a solid speed rusher, he is characterized by his quick footwork and upfield burst, enabling him to consistently outmaneuver offensive tackles and apply pressure on the quarterback. His impressive stat line exemplifies his sideline-to-sideline motor and good football IQ. In 2024, he recorded 197 tackles (74 solo), 7 tackles for loss (TFLs), and 2 sacks.   Sellers knows how to attack downhill with good physicality at the point of attack, showcasing good angles and foot quickness to pursue the ball carrier. He stays square, displays effective hand placement to disengage from blocks, and can make stops at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. His read-and-react ability is commendable, and he shows a solid understanding of zone coverage. Additionally, his quick and effective change of direction allows him to reach the catch point to force a pass breakup or make tackles in space. In addition, he recorded 18 tackles (12 solo), 11 pass breakups, and 1 TFL. Roach demonstrates good footwork and fluidity in his backpedal, allowing him to transition quickly while maintaining a balanced stance. He minimizes separation off breaks due to his strong change of direction, balance, and burst. Furthermore, he possesses impressive recovery speed, which is complemented by his ability to read and react effectively in the secondary. In 2024, he successfully made 6 out of 8 field goal attempts, achieving a success rate of 75%, with his longest kick for 51 yards. Additionally, he converted 23 out of 24 extra point attempts, resulting in an impressive 96% success rate. Over the course of 31 kickoffs, he recorded a total of 1,684 yards, averaging 54.3 yards per kick, including 12 touchbacks. Elam demonstrates a strong leg, with the ability to consistently make kicks from over 40 yards. He has solid fundamentals, showcasing both accuracy and balance. He completed 26 punts for a total of 1,075 yards, averaging 41.3 yards per punt, with four of those inside the 20-yard line. Scott demonstrates a powerful leg, a smooth punting motion, and the ability to place the ball exactly where it needs to be. For special teams coaches, checkout this senior punter. In 2024, he completed 173 of 298 passes (58%) for 2,830 yards, with 35 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. He demonstrates good footwork in the pocket, maintaining a strong and balanced base while stepping into his throws and utilizing good torque through his hips to generate velocity.   Norwood possesses good arm strength and accuracy at all levels of the field, effectively leading his receivers with keen anticipation. He consistently places the ball well and shows the ability to layer his throws with good touch. His processing of coverages and blitzes, both pre-snap and post-snap, results in sound decision-making within the pocket and impressive poise under pressure. He completed 152 out of 235 attempts, achieving a completion rate of 65%, with 2,529 yards, 34 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. Additionally, he rushed 140 times for 932 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. Washington showcases solid footwork and mechanics, demonstrating good ball placement and the ability to anticipate plays to lead his receivers effectively. He also poses a significant threat with his legs. During the 2024 season, he set a new record for total yards in Rivercrest football history. He currently holds ZERO offers which needs to change. In 2024, he rushed 166 times for 1,279 yards, averaging 7.7 yards per carry, and scored 22 touchdowns. Additionally, he recorded 5 receptions for 73 yards and 1 touchdown. Smith is a quick and elusive running back who shows good post-snap vision, allowing him to read first-level defenders and identify running lanes effectively. He possesses a good burst that enables him to attack the hole quickly. Strong at the point of attack, he consistently breaks tackles thanks to his balance, leg drive, and toughness.
