The Angleton Wildcats have made it all the way to Round 5 of the Texas High School Football Playoffs. They are one of the numerous teams that didn't win their district but stepped up at the right time of year and are playing their best football in December. These athletes listed are 5 of the standouts for the Wildcats that you should keep an eye on this Saturday in Waco.    Kaden Edwards has been a dominant force for Angleton High School, showcasing his versatility and leadership on both sides of the ball. The 6'0”, 205-pound senior linebacker finished the season with 73 tackles, 5 sacks, 8 pass breakups, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, and a safety, while also contributing 200 kick return yards, including one returned for a touchdown. When the playoffs rolled around, Edwards took his game to another level, adding 40 tackles, 3 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, another interception, and 227 more return yards. With a 4.5 GPA, exceptional strength, and unmatched football IQ, Edwards leads by example as the team captain. A durable, explosive, and sure tackler, he consistently takes good pursuit angles and thrives in high-pressure moments. Holding multiple offers at the next level, Edwards is the complete package both on and off the field.     Bryce Duron is proving to be the steady hand guiding Angleton's offense. The 5'10”, 175-pound junior quarterback has been a dual-threat playmaker, tallying 1,246 passing yards and 21 touchdowns through the air, along with 218 rushing yards and 6 scores on the ground. In the playoffs, Duron stepped up even more, adding 649 passing yards, 58 rushing yards, and 10 total touchdowns. Known for his field vision and ability to manage the game, he's heady and composed under center. With his mobility and knack for making plays in key moments, Duron is a reliable asset for his team and a name to watch moving forward.     J'Shun Sanders has been a dynamic weapon for the Wildcats this season, proving he's the go-to target when the game is on the line. The 6'1”, 160-pound senior wide receiver hauled in 42 receptions for 631 yards, averaging an impressive 15 yards per catch, with 8 touchdowns through the air. Not just a receiving threat, Sanders added 127 rushing yards and 210 return yards, bringing him close to 1,000 all-purpose yards for the year. Known for his shifty moves, crisp routes, and deceptive speed, he consistently creates separation and tracks the ball with precision. With reliable hands and a quick burst out of breaks, Sanders is a playmaker who delivers in key moments.     Ryland Brown has been a key playmaker for Angleton, showcasing his instincts and versatility at free safety. The 6'0”, 170-pound senior totaled 32 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions during the season, while also electrifying on special teams with 373 punt return yards and 2 return touchdowns. In the playoffs, Brown added 29 tackles and 2 more pass breakups, proving his ability to step up in big moments. A dual-sport athlete and standout baseball player, his knack for tracking the ball carries over to the football field, where his discipline and range allow him to excel in both coverage and run support. Brown's combination of athleticism and playmaking ability makes him a game-changer in all phases.     Jamarcus Shockley has been a stud in the backfield for the Wildcats this season, delivering one explosive play after another. The 5'8”, 187-pound senior running back racked up 1,067 rushing yards on just 127 carries, averaging over 8 yards per touch, and found the end zone 11 times during the regular season. In the playoffs, Shockley elevated his game even further, adding 420 rushing yards and 7 more touchdowns. A dual-sport athlete with a blazing 4.43 40-yard dash and a 10.9 100-meter time, he combines speed with toughness, balance, and patience. His ability to see the field, make quick decisions, and break tackles makes him an elusive and dynamic playmaker who's always a threat to go the distance.
