2028 Prospects Start To Shine
While it will be some time before we will be able to get an accurate and credible read on the 2028 class, there are several standouts who are coming off a tremendous freshman season.
As the Class of 2025 seniors are wrapping their careers up and the 2026 juniors and 2027 sophomores, it is this rising sophomore group that certainly sent a message heading into the off season.
As we will continue to shine the spotlight on all prospects throughout the next eight months, you can guarantee that we will showcase some players that many have never heard about.
Today, we bring you five 2028 players to continue to keep an eye on:
Carmelo Harden, OL, 6-0, 280, Bartow. Here is a very athletic player who not only opens holes but is learning how to pass block for a versatile offense that put its share of points on the board. Over the next three seasons, this is someone you will want to watch his progress over the next few years. Also plays basketball.
James Lattimore, DB, 5-7, 140, Orlando East River. While he has so much room to grow, this is a talented young man who has what it takes to be special. Solid cover skills from his corner position and displays athleticism with the ability to tackle. He is a two-sport athlete that wrestles, which is something that will only enhance his growth and maturity.
Dominic Miranda, OL, 6-4, 270, Kissimmee Tohopekaliga. One of the toughest positions to ever project is offensive linemen, especially when they are so young. When you have the size and skill, the things that can elevate you to another level often come down to maturity and natural growth and strength. This is someone that has a chance to be very special over the next three years.
Makarion Owens, DE, 6-0, 200, West Boca Raton. On a team that not only won the state title but finished unbeaten, here is yet another promising underclassman that the Bulls rolled out all season. As he grows and gets stronger, he will become more dominant and become an elite pass rusher coming off the edge. He also has a 4.2 grade point average in the classroom.
Christopher Sanon, DE, 6-2, 198, Orlando Evans. When you watch him play for the first time, the thing that pops out right away is his understanding of the game for someone so young. He is an elite talent that is going to grow, get stronger and mature as a football player. Not only does he get after the quarterback, but he is also a run stopper, which is a combination that is hard to teach over a career – let alone in one season. His work in the classroom (3.0 GPA) is also an asset.
