He excels at making plays off the read option or RPO, using his good foot speed, lateral agility and burst to make defenders miss. Thomas displays solid field vision and ball placement when attacking the short-to-intermediate levels of the field. Additionally, he can become a vertical threat due to his quick release off the line of scrimmage, which provides his quarterback with a quick window. Marlin possesses solid foot speed and athleticism, paired with smooth route-running skills. He demonstrates good hand-eye coordination and body control, allowing him to adjust mid-route, high-point the football, win contested catches, or reel in passes near the sideline. He is a genuine threat in the red zone and on third downs. Additionally, Marlin has good run-blocking skills, showcasing good angles, hand placement, and leg drive to create running lanes for ball carriers. He can play in-line, as a Y, or as an H-back. Porter possesses good read-and-react ability and demonstrates solid change of direction, allowing him to attack downhill against the run or stay inside the hip pocket of receivers of breaks to force a PBU. His quick change of direction and fluid movement enable him to transition effectively, sticking with his man vertically and preventing any room for separation.
