CHARLESTON | After a slow first half, an onside kick and a forced turnover completely shifted momentum toward Philip Simmons as the Iron Horses pulled away with a 40-24 victory on a cold Friday night in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Kingstree was unstoppable on its first three drives. Midway through the second quarter, it was leading 24-7 and it looked as if Philip Simmons had no answer.

Halftime was exactly what the Iron Horses needed, and they came out a different team in the second half. A surprise onside kick opened the half, followed by a quick touchdown strike.

A forced fumble by [player_tooltip player_id='1592547' first='Brody' last='Tonon'] gave the ball right back to the Philip Simmons offense. It then scored two touchdowns in its next five plays.

One of those touchdowns went to [player_tooltip player_id='1254044' first='Kolten' last='Kellermann'] (pictured above), who finished with five catches for 101 yards and three touchdowns. He was impressed with how he and quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='502413' first='Tavien' last='Orellana'] (184 passing yards, four touchdowns) worked together in the air attack.

"I did what I had to do on some of those catches," Kellermann said. "Tavien threw some great passes, and I was able to surprise myself and go up and get a couple of the balls. Great team win tonight for our guys."

OTHER PHILIP SIMMONS STANDOUTS

Darriel Porcher RB | Porcher didn't see the field on offense until the second half and was still able to collect 70 rushing yards and a touchdown on just four carries. He and Orellana worked together to execute the speed option play for big gains multiple times in the second half.

Ashton Kellermann WR | Kellermann had four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. He and his brother had quite the night at the receiver position.

TJ Walker RB | Walker had six carries for 19 yards and a touchdown.

[player_tooltip player_id='1271262' first='Alex' last='Tchoryk'] DE | Tchoryk had two fourth down sacks in the second half that ended promising drives by Kingstree. Those two sacks were instrumental in keeping the momentum with Philip Simmons throughout the second half.

KINGSTREE STANDOUTS

[player_tooltip player_id='473015' first='Tyleek' last='Dukes'] RB | Dukes was a star for Kingstree. He finished the night with 37 carries for 169 yards and a touchdown. He was a workhorse and ran the ball downhill straight at the defense. Unofficially, Dukes will finish the year with just shy of 1,800 rushing yards and 21 rushing scores.

Chiquan Giles RB | Giles had seven carries for 93 yards and a touchdown. Giles broke off multiple big third down runs in the first half on a toss sweep play that Philip Simmons seemed to have no answer for.

Javian Mccrea RB | Mccrea carried the ball seven times for 39 yards as well as completing one pass for 28 yards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1013079' first='Xavier' last='Dukes'] WR | Dukes was the recipient of Mccrea's lone completion and was targeted by Mccrea two other times.

Makhi Shaw QB | Shaw did not attempt a single pass, but he did run the ball ten times for 31 yards and a touchdown.

Dontrell Elps DL | Epps had multiple tackles for loss as well as a sack on third down that ended a Philip Simmons drive in the first half.
