ROEBUCK | Dorman's seniors made a statement.

With a guaranteed week off while the rest of the Upstate catches up from Hurricane Helene, the Cavaliers had a chance to deliver a kind of closing argument before their playoff run begins in two weeks.

The didn't waste the opportunity.

Dorman's offense churned out nearly 500 yards, the defense limited Eastside to 152 and a late, short-field TD, and the Cavaliers beat the Eagles 35-7 to finish Region II-5A play - and a final region game for their seniors - with a big win,

"It's amazing," Dorman coach Jake Morris said. "To have them have this chance in their last regular season home game is great. These seniors came to work every day. We started off slow, and we changed our identity a little bit, and they just kept working. I'm so proud of these guys. They've been through a lot. The seniors had three head coaches in three years, and a lot of changes offensively. I'm just really proud of them."

Dorman did a lot of it on the ground. [player_tooltip player_id='1664350' first='Nick' last='Means'] rushed for 129 yards, Enahjay Fowler had 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and the Cavaliers averaged nearly seven yards a carry as a team, rushing for 305 yards and three scores. Dorman's offensive line played well all night, and particularly in third-down situations, as the Cavaliers converted eight of 13 chances. [player_tooltip player_id='809750' first='Landon' last='Greene'] was a standout, finishing blocks way downfield and winning a bunch of one-on-one matchups on his side of the line. Ranson Farr continued his strong season, booting field goals of 24 and 44 yards.

Meanwhile, [player_tooltip player_id='1308084' first='Brice' last='O'Neal'] was quietly efficient at QB. He threw for 146 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown to [player_tooltip player_id='1359211' first='Keenan' last='Arcega-Whiteside'], and directed the Cavaliers' offense to a solid night.

"This was great," O'Neal said. "These fans deserve it. We deserve it. We had a little rough patch where we lost two games in a row, but we just tried to keep going and keep moving, and we're going to try to take a run at this thing. Enahjay and Nick and the offensive line are playing so good. It's fun to see them. They've worked so hard through the offseason. We're all having fun, and it's great to be out here."

Defensively, the Cavaliers continued the level of play that has put them in a great position down the stretch. [player_tooltip player_id='1316823' first='Dru' last='Darby'] had 10 total tackles, a sack, and 1.5 tackles for loss, while [player_tooltip player_id='1592369' first='Jordan' last='Darby'] added nine tackles, half a sack, and half a tackle for loss. [player_tooltip player_id='402497' first='Kentavion' last='Anderson'] (pictured) had six tackles, five of them solo, with three tackles for loss and an interception.

"Those linebackers are freaks," O'Neal said with a smile.

Eastside's bright spots came on defense as well. Lucas Tankersly had 15 tackles and broke up a pass, Elijah McMahan had nine tackles and a tackle for loss, and [player_tooltip player_id='1025770' first='Cayden' last='Workman'] had seven tackles and a tackle for loss. Noah Hunnicutt had a late interception to set up the Eagles' only score of the night.
