Section VI Quarterfinal Playoff Review; Class C

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">#8 Portville @ #1 Newfane</h2>   Portville went into Newfane Friday night and battled them to the finish. Up 22-21 after 3 quarters, the Panthers ran away with the upset 34-21. Portville will be heading to Chautauqua Lake to take on the #4 seed Eagles on Friday, November 8th at 7pm.   Player of the Game    Maxx DeYoe has been Portville's top rusher all year and proved to be a force in the playoffs. DeYoe ran for 186 yards on 30 carries and scored twice. Maxx is a tough runner with great stamina and the agility to match. He will be a pivotal asset in the semifinals.    Top Signal Caller    Eli Sleggs is an athletic dual threat QB that threw for 106 yards on just 4 completions and a 93 yard TD. He also added 57 yards on the ground and 2 more scores.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#5 Alden @ #4 Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton</h2>   Alden had to deal with several injuries this season and that was too much to overcome as Chautauqua Lake beat the Bulldogs 41-28. The Eagles will host Portville on Friday, November 8th at 7pm.   Player of the Game    [player_tooltip player_id='1344653' first='Brayden' last='Gibbs'] is having a fantastic junior year and will be considered one of the top seniors entering next season. Gibbs has excellent awareness with great accuracy and possesses the ability to lead an offense. Brayden went 12/21 for 198 yards and 4 TDs.    Top Rusher    [player_tooltip player_id='1811603' first='Thandon' last='Bensink'] has been the Eagles breakout player as a sophomore. He is a tough runner with the ability to carry a heavy workload. He is 2nd in Section VI (1st in Class C) in rushing attempts and carried the ball 32 times against Alden taking that for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 7 tackles as the team's OLB.    Top Two-Way Player    Devin Hewes is a remarkable athlete with a nose for the football and the ability to take it to the house on any given play. He caught 4 passes for 134 yards and 3 TDs while recording 5 tackles and an INT on defense.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#7 Cleveland Hill @ #1 Salamanca</h2>   Salamanca scored 4 TDs in the first quarter and never looked back on their way to a 49-12 victory. Salamanca will host the Medina Mustangs on Friday, November 8th at 7pm.   Player of the Game    [player_tooltip player_id='807872' first='Maddox' last='Isaac'] is an athletic QB that is a threat with his legs as much as his arm. Along with his 62 yards and passing TD, he added 85 yards on the ground and 2 TDs, including one from 62 yards out.    Top Defender    [player_tooltip player_id='1283664' first='Zach' last='Trietley'] is a prototypical Middle Linebacker with excellent awareness and brings a physicality to the game that is needed at that position. Trietley led the Warriors in tackles with 15. I expect him to make the All State team once again.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#6 Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove @ #3 Medina</h2>   After a back-and-forth 1st half, Medina ran away with the game in the 3rd & 4th quarters on their way to a 28-12 win. The Mustangs will take on Salamanca in the semifinals on Friday, November 8th at 7pm.   Player of the Game    [player_tooltip player_id='1212776' first='Christian' last='Moss'] is a tremendous RB with solid size and good speed. He is great between the tackles and has the patience needed at the position. Moss ran for 184 yards on 27 carries and 3 TDs. He also added 7 tackles and recovered a fumble from his DE position.    Top Defender    [player_tooltip player_id='1212868' first='Brody' last='Fry'] is a sound tackler with very good wherewithal to make a play at LB. His 13 tackles against Falconer were best among Medina's leaders. Fry's ability to attack ball carriers and his tenacity should get him another All State honor.
