The 5-6 8th seeded <a href="https://x.com/madcofootball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Madison County Mountaineers</a> upset the undefeated 1st seeded Clarke County Eagles with a <a href="https://www.maxpreps.com/games/11-15-2024/football-24/clarke-county-vs-madison-county.htm?c=j7BQKqT2q0KQ7gv0wbo8Lw#tab=matchup&amp;schoolid=" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">21-0 victory</a>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Anyone who knows the caliber of player that Madison County has should not be surprised by their victory. My colleague Carl published a <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/08/przva-team-preview-madison-county-mountaineers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>preseason preview</em></a> of the Mountaineers stating in his article:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:quote --> <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"><!-- wp:quote --> <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"><!-- wp:quote --> <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"><!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>While the Mountaineers have reached postseason play the past two years, now is the time they take the next step. An offense that should be amongst the state leaders in points scored and a defense that returns many key contributors. On the season, he has 57 receptions, 837 yards, 8 TDs, averaging 14.68 yards per reception. He earned 1 Team All Bull Run District honors at WR and Punter. In this game, he has 24 carries, 242 yards, and 2 TDs, averaging 10.08 yards per carry. He won the <a href="https://x.com/Jb2smovv/status/1856139066397299049" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">offensive player of the year</a> award for the Bull Run District for his 189 carry, 1,582 yard season with 19 TDs. He is a balanced TE that you can feature in any offense. He displays soft hands making him a dependable target. He has many offers and has outplayed his rank this season. He is the foundation of Madison County's line, and will be playing at the next level. He is the starting Center for the Mountaineers and shows very good strength and leg drive.
