Destrehan jumped on Ouachita Parish early Friday and never let up on its way to the second round of the Division-I Non-Select bracket.

Three of the Wildcats' star receivers found the end zone to help open up the 30-12 victory, their sixth straight on the season, and extend a steak of 12 straight years with at least one playoff win.

The Wildcats struggled through an up-and-down first half of the season that largely coincided with the injury and recovery timeline of their junior quarterback. But since the second-year starter has returned to health and rhythm, the perennial power has looked more and more the part of its typical contender self. Fields ran the offense with poise and confidence, spreading the ball around to his playmakers for three touchdowns and more than 250 yards passing.

The highly touted junior prospect was a go-to for Fields in the red zone and on pivotal third-down plays on his way to 10 catches for more than 120 yards and two touchdowns and also had the opportunity to show his versatility on a variety of wildcat snaps, run plays and a double-pass play he completed to teammate [player_tooltip player_id='426964' first='Phillip' last='Wright III'] for a long gain down to the goal line.

The LSU commit's elite track speed was on display for Destrehan's two most explosive plays of the game, a 70-plus yard catch-and-run from fields and another nearly 60-yard catch from Mack on a double-pass play.

The junior slot receiver was another versatile weapon for the Wildcats in both the passing and rushing games, including a 19-yard touchdown run slicing and juking his way through defenders to still find the end zone after a penalty negated a longer score a few players earlier.

The emergence of the sophomore running back in place of an injured senior has been another major storyline for the Wildcats this season. And, just as he had in other big games the back half of this season, Dabney provide balance to the team's wealth of receiving weapons as he racked up yards slicing through traffic or bouncing outside and appeared to only get stronger late in the game to help move the chains and ice away the win.

The senior linebacker was a quick and active playmaker in the middle of the Wildcats' defense to help limit Ouachita's athletic backfield, including a big tackle well behind the line for a 25-yard loss.

and Damien Richard — 5-11, 165 DB — Destrehan (2026)

The Wildcats received a slew of big plays from their secondary all over the field from breakups deep in coverage, including two near-interceptions by Thiel, to stops behind the line of scrimmage, including Richard helping corral the aforementioned 25-yard loss with Gilbert and Brown wrapping up a third down to help stall the Lions in the red zone.

The Lions' star defensive tackle was handful for the Destrehan line to attempt to slow down with his power inside to consistently generate pressure at the point of attack even through double teams, including a sack on which he bullied his way through a blocker, and his quickness to be able to bounce outside.

The Lions found the end zone twice, both times on the legs of their dynamic junior quarterback, who orchestrated many of the team's biggest plays whether with his athleticism on the run or his quick release to get the ball to his weapons downfield.
